  1. They are sweet rifles! If it’s a 1946 production, then I hope it was drilled nicely for that scope mount. I had a one that had been butchered previously in its life. Top of receiver had been mangled but it was a tack driver. My unmolested 1952 vintage is favorite rimfire overall period.
  2. Joking aside, Nothing in B-Western regs requires Buscadero style holsters exclusively.. The requirement is the firearm to be below top of the gun belt. Your daughters rig definitely has the pizazz factor covered! IMO
  3. No hate here, but those holsters are not B-Western legal due to their construction that causes revolvers to ride above the gun belt.
  4. Sweet deal plus a beautiful handcrafted case to boot……. BTT
  5. ^^^^^^^^^^^ You’ve got that task covered all on your own my friend! Proud and pleased to call you my friend!
  6. @Yeldog 4078 what length barrels?
  7. This is an eye opener for myself! For quite awhile I’ve been steadfast against static makeup on a flyer, but thanks @Eyesa Horg for painting me a new picture. Sometimes you gotta pull the blinders off a stubborn mule!
  8. I recently had a spirited discussion with a fellow CAS member about whether it’s necessary for stage with a shotgun flyer needing some type of “ makeup” for a miss on a flyer. His contention is it gives those striving for a clean match an opportunity to preserve their goal. His position is based on the flyer is a moving target which somehow is unique. That argument seems weak to me since we regularly encounter multiple types of moving targets without a make up option (Texas Stars, falling plate racks, moving trolley targets, mechanical and electric swingers, can launchers, etc) at various matches. I contend that a “make up” is rewarding mediocre shotgun skills since there’s no such makeup option for rifles or pistols in a match! Specifically….. This doesn’t apply to the buckaroo / buckertte age categories since they are exempt on SG Does the need change based on type of flyer being offered? Would it make a difference in the level of the match, IE… a State championship versus local annual or monthly? I’m interested what the peanut gallery’s thoughts are on this!
  9. Been using “backer rod” since about 2016 with no adverse effects. It’s cheap, effective and works well for me. The “toxicity “ of a fraction of a grain by weight is probably overshadowed by many other secondary sources of exposure that comes with a day at the range IMO. I have found that the exact length of cut backer rod is less critical so long it’s above the minimum length of your loading. Measure from powder charge to case mouth, and cut to that length. For 45 Colt, the seating depth of your bullet will supply plenty of compression with APP, BlackMz, T7etc… Add about 1/8” length for real black.
  10. Having triaged a cowboy that blew off a hunk of his ring finger and wedding ring using wax bullets in a derringer “safety” demonstration at a match, I cringe when the derringer game is played!
  11. Glad the PM went thru, thanks for the info!
  12. Sent a PM 2 days ago, still no response to questions….
  13. Who did the action work? It appears to be a carbine length barrel, so 19”, correct?
  14. I Shot with Little River Scout and his wife at EOT. I still have the Aussie bandana they gave me. They were great folks.

  20. +1.....SR4759 for my roller and Marlin with 300 gr cast, 4198 for heavier bullets. When my supply is exhausted soon, am switching to 5744 for all weights. My favorite sub is APP.
  21. Naw..... Your still a 49er! Happy Birthday! Senior is still to come.
  22. This is a symptom that can come from of an over length hammer spring contacting the back of the hammer in front of the hammer bearing ( roller ) often times. I have only broken one Colt hammer spring, but it was a 45 Colt 1878 (artillery model )manufactured gun. It broke about 10 years ago, guess a 130 year life span is all they are good for! If your breakage is at random points and the spring has been thinned along its length, this can be due to the grinding being done cross wise to the length of the spring rather than longitudinally and the finish polishing not removing the grinding marks which create stress risers. It's something to look for! Hope you update us when you find the cause!
  23. +1...... have made a few { hundreds } cases to supplement my 1,000 plus factory, and what GJ says is good advice! I am now playing with the 155gr cast bullets and 160 along with APP and Black MZ as well as Trail Boss, and 700x. They run through my Dillon with no problem, and like a heavy crimp! Good luck, and let us know how it goes!
  24. Well.... don't use those modern length shells, there are many 2 5/8 and 2 1/2" options to make the gun hold 6... I know from first hand experience with a particular 97 and my LC Smith hammer gun with short chambers and STEEL barrels. The shorter length shells have worked well for me many times, EOT included!
