What is a “Duper” and how big does it need to get before it’s considered “Super”? And why aren’t there any other sizes of “Duper”?

It sounds like someone moving a sensitive microphone around on a table while a bunch of rail cars off in the distance go clickety clack down the tracks.

I have always thought the designation of “heavy cruiser” was a taunt to the enemy daring them to see how fast a heavy cruiser sank as compared to a plain ol’ cruiser.

That’s great, Doc. Congratulations to your wife on her achievement. Very Cool!

When I order from Bear Creek Supply I always order enough to fill an “if it fits it ships box” and they are heavy. The USPS tears these boxes up, but to their credit they tape them up and send them on. Once I lost 5 bullets from a damaged box containing 2500 bullets. Not bad for a box that was torn apart, reassembled and taped up with a roll of packing tape. That tape was on there thick.

Reproductions rust too -
I found a video of various postal equipment in operation. The narration is annoying and it starts off talking about model collecting, but some of the conveyors could damage a gun that gets sideways and then has other packages slamming into it.

You can load 95 grain bullets in 9mm cartridges. Just for kicks I went on the Hodgdon reloading sight and checked recipes. Here’s one using HP-38 powder. https://hodgdonreloading.com/rldc/?t=2

Exactly what I was going to say. Good idea, Alpo. Thanks.

I truly dislike Gloria Allred’s politics, but she is a very intelligent lady that knows how to win a case. She’s a media hound, but I can think of no one better to go after Delta. She did it once and in this case she could definitely do it again.

Very good ideas. Thank you. Something that I have noticed that Ruger does when you send them a long gun is this: They want you to ship your gun in the box it came in. When they ship it back they put your gun in the original box then put it in another tight fitting heavy duty box. It makes for a pretty secure set up. Also, they don’t use USPS. I cannot tell you how many boxes I have received vis USPS that arrived dang near destroyed over the years. Also, I have received packaged that were wet or that had obviously gotten wet. USPS seems to go out of their way to damage boxes coming from or going to firearms / shooting sports related businesses.

I hope she sues and takes Delta for millions. I have my own issues with that airline, but that’s for another time / thread. There should also be an Active Duty & Veteran Boycott of Delta.

Years ago I was shipping some crystal figurines by USPS. The man at the counter asked if I wanted insurance. I paid a little over $700 for these two figurines, but I bought them in Germany. I asked if I could insure them for $2000. The man said said “Sure, but good luck getting that amount from the post office.” He then went on to explain the hassle of getting money from the USPS for an insured package. It takes months to settle a claim. The USPS is “self-insured”. They foot the bill on claims and they have people whose job it is to dispute claims and drag their feet for months before honoring a claim. I thanked the man and took my figurines to FedEx. I understand they’re a little easier to get insurance claims settled, but luckily I have never had to test that.

3/8s to a half an inch? The man needs some calibration of the eyeballs. I’d bet that rifle box was on a pallet on a forklift or on some machine sticking out a bit and rammed into something.

What hump?

I wonder if people had a different outlook back then?

Because it’s a movie? The only time I have seen this occur was in hillbilly country and things did not go well over time. Thinking about this made me laugh as I remembered that once when my daughter was 16 or 17 she and I went to the supermarket to buy groceries for a get together we were having the next day. My wife was home cleaning and getting the patio ready. Anyway, my daughter and I were talking and cracking jokes and having a good time while we got the things we needed. At one point near the meat section I noticed these 2 older ladies watching us. I didn’t think anything of it. When we got in line at the checkout Mrs. Kravitz and her companion got in line behind us and they were glaring at me. I kind of wondered what the heck was wrong with them, but I pretty much ignored them. My daughter was laughing at a comment I made about someone on a magazine cover and one old bat could not contain herself any longer. Old bat 1: “You should be ashamed of yourself!” Old bat 2: “Yes, you should!” Me: “What in the heck are you talking about?” Old bat 1: “Her” motioning toward my daughter. “She is much too young for you!” Old bat 2: “CRADLE ROBBER!” My daughter and I looked at each other and we both busted up laughing, which seriously ticked these women off even more. Me: “Ladies, this is my daughter.” and my daughter was looking at them nodding her head holding back the laughter. Both of these women were stammering and looking at each other then back at us. Then they both backed the cart up they had full of groceries and headed away looking for another line. Me, my daughter, the couple in front of us and the lady running the register all busted up laughing. We still laugh about that from time to time. That is a fun memory. -
I have never heard of garbage bags with pesticide in them, but I am pretty sure lots of pests have been wrapped in garbage bags. Agreed! I hate that crap! My wife “accidentally” kept buying garbage bags with that insidious odor added. I accidentally returned them and she and I had a short discussion about it. Ahem… I have never cared for perfumes and colognes of any kind. Perfumie trash? Hell no! Human or plastic!

So, model 12 it is then?…
