  1. Costume sounds pretty Halloween...
  2. If we're really going for period correct shouldn't at least half of us get cholera, TB, Typhus or Scarlet fever too?
  3. Back up for NYE.
  4. Yup. The anonymity of the keyboard allowing anyone to be brave and brash without recourse. Some call it the keyboard commando syndrome. The crass and rude anonymous online commentary and insults just more fuel to add to the fire of decaying morals in the culture. Something about no more individual accountability. Seems as if the quote, "I hate rude behavior in a man." applies here. I am glad cowboys, er, uh, I mean cowfolk to be PC, don't follow the crowd. We stand on our own. This SASSWIRE is always a great place to seek friendship and refuge from the rest of the online world, if to nothing more than read and re read posts. There have been a few disagreements here but the mods usually stop it if'n the offenders ain't not already come to an understanding and smoothed things over. Good topic, OP. And good observation.
  5. I found a fix for that small waist synrome. Doughnuts. It works.
  6. Also up by Cody, Wyoming, Trailtown looks like it would be worth a visit. www.oldtrailtown.org
  7. Absolutely beautiful. Thank you for sharing your story with us.
  8. Talking to my dad on the phone a couple days prior I told him winter weather finally arrived. It is supposed to be 2 to 20 degrees here over the weekend with a chance of snow. He said, "oh" and then went on to tell me it was a whopping -21 with 16" of snow on the ground where he is while out for his morning walk. I could hear him smiling. That 76 year old man will always be tougher than I am.
  9. These Dance and Bros (repro) guns are unique (I love the history behind firearms from the War of Northern Aggression) and certainly these are a great looking pair. These are also not easy to find. T'would make someone a very classy duo of black powder shooters!
  10. Kinda like obamacare... failing on its own merits. :)
  11. I'll take #1, presuming it is for 12 gauge. Please PM me where to send payment.
  12. When I started shooting CAS I always bought loaded ammo from a local ammo manufacturer at gun shows. As I shot more and more the cost rose to an uncomfortable level. Plus the ammo (45 Colt) was a tad hot for our game. Guys used to joke I was shooting 45 magnum. Needless to say I now reload my ammo. BUT, if I could have bought ammo in the neighborhood of $12-15 per box of 50 I might have just kept buying that ammo, especially if the rounds were not so hot. I use either 200 or 250 grain RNFP and either would have suited me. Now I am looking for factory ammo once again in 45 acp for a different shooting venture. Mainly to NOT get into more reloading. But I'm choosing factory also because I do not plan on needing vast amounts of it so the occasional factory ammo purchase should suffice. When I plan to shoot 45-70, 30-30, or 44 Colt or 44 Special BP, I do so infrequently that I just buy factory. Ammo I would purchase now for my cowboy action shooting would be in 44 Special or 44-40. Black powder would be 44 Colt or 44 special only because I only do that maybe a couple times per year. All of this is predicated on affordability. Most of my shooting is done with 45 Colt which I reload but the other calibers I shoot infrequently enough to just stick with factory cowboy ammo. Whether or not I purchase factory ammo or choose to reload ultimately depends on the frequency which I would shoot that particular caliber every year.
  13. Check the classifieds on www.glocktalk.com I think that might be a good place to ask.
  14. Cabela's actually had TB locally on sale ar $15 per bottle over the weekend.
  15. What? No gunaholics here? I ain't not believing THAT fer a second.
  16. Or the scene from the movie Jose Wales...
  17. If'n ya cain't figger this out after Creeker and NKJ's posts.... buy a Glock. WOW, guys. great advice. Belczeck, I hope yore listening because you just got a PhD level tutorial. Best wishes.
  18. I have no idee bout who nor what this fella was. But he sure looks like someone I'd cotton to. Tough and trustworthy, he looks. I'm already sorry he's gone. Someone please tell us more about this LL hombre. I ain't been around long enough to have had the pleasure of knowing a lot of the folks who have passed on 'round these parts. I feel like I am missing a part of the SASS family. Good folks aplenty here. Just not enough time to meet everyone in person.
  19. The '97 advertised here looks like it is in GREAT shape. I was looking over '97's at the local Cabela's today (and they have a couple in 16 ga) and theirs are NO WHERE near in as good of condition as your is. Good price here too.. A good luck sales bump for you.
  20. Some states have a CCH license that is identical to a DL except at the top says concealed carry license, not drivers license. My state's DL and CCH are identical but for that wording at the top. I can see why a non picture carry permit would not work for valid ID. I did not imagine a state would issue a carry permit without the holder's picture on it.
  21. I have XL hands and the big old Ruger Bisleys with 5 1/2 barrels fit me perfectly. I shoot duelist and DD and they work great. They are balanced perfectly for my shooting with smokeless and BP. I tried a number of guns over the years and immediately zeroed in on the OMV Bisley in 45 Colt. Built stout and with the occasional cleaning always work great. I had been shooting "regular" handled Rugers while shooting two handed and they felt fine but as soon as I switched to one handed, the Ruger Bisley was the better choice. The Rugers are my normal gun but my Cimarron Open Top Armies in 44 Colt are a hoot to shoot and also fit my larger hand perfectly. Style over function yet they function like I need them too. If you are patient and lucky you can find these for sale on GB in the $450 range. And you're right when you say, "the CAS guys seems to spend more time smiling and less time scoring targets than the run and gun crowd." I would change that to..."smiling and BSing and heckling and joking around while encouraging the guy they are competing against and having an overall GREAT time. When costuming is as big a part of this game as the guns are for many people, how "stick-in-the-mud" serious can we take this? Fun Fun Fun is this game. Welcome! Enjoy your time playing cowboy. I know I do.
  22. I have read about situations where a state-issued concealed carry ID is not considered a valid form of state ID. At first I wondered how this could be and then I quickly ascertained the requiring party just simply the anti-gun in nature. TSA being one of the entities that will not accept it as ID. But not being able to use your driver's license at the driver's license office showing it to the same office that issued you your driver's license to get another driver's license makes no sense to me.
  23. Back around. Be happy to work these into a trade for a Cimarron '66 Carbine in 44 Special.
  24. Bump to the top.
  25. November now. How is progress on the hotel coming?
