  1. PLUS ONE for the Phantom (both) NO. I don't think Magtech 12Ga Brass Hulls are overpriced. MagTech pricing is right in line with EVERYTHING at this point in time. If you're not looking to buy, whya whining??
  2. An Opinion. Worth just what you're paying for it. There is still a couple Hundred Thousand '97s in the back of the same number of closets. Yours has didly squat collector value. The Butt Stock is at the wrong angle for our game, intended for shooting "up" mostly at Ducks as a "market gun." Beyond that, Phantom is entirely correct. Three Screw guns break frequently. Based on age, your gun most likely has two and a half inch chambering. Even if mark'd 2 3/4, it isn't. It will need having the chamber re-cut for modern 2 3/4 inch plastics and the forcing cone lengthened. Chopping the barrel WILL make it handier. Adding choke tubes even handier. Bottom line though, it's YOUR Shotgun. Make it work for YOU!! And let us not forget, the appropriate instrument for timing H.K. is either a Sun Dial or an Hour Glass.
  3. Let us not forget the Hundreds of Thousands of our Membership and contributions that paid for his Jet Set World Travel, The Mansion, those Custom suits, etc., Everything he holds should be seized sold at auction and the proceeds returned to the NRA. Move Along My A$$. Get a Rope.
  4. No. Not really objective. There are variables. Once the experiment is finished, what has been proved?? The differences are actually academic. The real world difference in "speed" of the various selections is moot. Unmodified rifles for CAS?? Your kidding??
  5. In my neck of the woods, we call it "Onion Snow."
  6. WHAT?? Surely you jest!! NO Playing Cards fer the Spokes!!! Pikers !!
  7. At one time, Cimarron was cataloguing the 1851 Richards/Mason in multiple barrel length. 4 3/4, 5 1//2 and 7 1/2. I don't see that availability now. It may be a "Call and See" kind of thing. For a while was the same for the Open Top. Multiple barrel lengths. It may well be, with the reduction in demand, those options have been discontinued. Still worth a Call. Once you get an answer from Cimarron or Taylors, DO go thru a dealer. Preferably one you know and trust. You will get a better price than ordering direct from any importer.
  8. RUST Rust NEVER Sleeps. "Natural" finish for most hand guns is Blue or Nickel. Bare steel is . . . badly cared for. Except for Stainless. Added: No, not "extra" cleaning, but a constant light coating of Oil or other Rust Preventative. And even at that, RUST will still sneak up onya.
  9. Very Carefully > > BACK AWAY from the Garage Door. Call your local Garage Door install/service company.
  10. PLUS ONE for the Subdeacon. I "was" relying on college Football for entertainment after NASCAR quit being NASCAR. Now, unfortunately, College Football has become a JOKE!!
  11. I gotta take a "PASS." It's gonna be just too COLD!! Freezing is just not in my lexicon of FUN
  12. Anybody notice we actually have an Extraordinary (new normal) number of meaningless bowl games. By the way, Bama Lost. Plain and simple. Not "Cheated" and the kicker put on a fine act.
  13. PLUS ONE for Chola. Shooting .36s with regular lead ball, I often got called misses cause the "spotters" couldn't "hear" the ball hit a dead target. I switched to harder cast EPP UG - 36 bullets and get a nice satisfying KLANG for those BLIND spotters.
  14. Nah!! The Larry Welk Sweep is "One anna Two anna Three anna FOUR!!."
  15. Hiya Lucky. No. Atz the simple answer. Above, Sedalia Dave is spot on. The only way to get those Trix "Wide - Low" hammers is to first buy a set of low, wide hammers and perhaps a set of OEM Percussion hammers and send the whole Kit and Caboodle off to be cut and welded. I personally can't shoot guns with the low, wide hammers. Muscle memory is hard set. Gunfighter
  16. My own experience has been Excellent with Polymer Coated Bullets. I shoot APP exclusively, again with excellent results. I crimp firmly in the crimp groove to prevent damaging the Polymer and do not "bite" into the lead. I've been shooting Badman Bullets as well as Bullets by Scarlett. Excellent and Excellent. OOPS: I overlooked the original velocity question from the OP. I have no clue what the Max velocity might be based on my actual experience. I don't think I've shot anything over a thousand FPS. No help there.
  17. Happy New Year Right Back Atcha Rye. I are Hopein to make TUSCO in '24
  18. Known Fact. Red Polymer bullets are indeed faster than Black Polymer bullets.
  19. Of course, If one doesn't "Face Book" the reference is of no practical value.
  20. Where is this "Car Stuff" you guys are yammering about?? What Car?? Vintage '50s stuff.
  21. Several Lustrum ago, when we went thru the Out Of Battery Discharge fiasco, Uberti changed the geometry relationship between the Firing Pin Extension Rod and the Hammer. This was done to prevent using your face to stop the extension rod in an OOB incident. Then Uberti changed the method of retaining the Extension Rod in the action. If you have a rifle with the small retaining pins to retain the Extension Rod, DO NOT FOOL WITH IT to make it east to remove the rod.
  22. Just one old gunfighters Opine. I've only been shooting Gunfighter for about 25 years. I just picked up a brandy new pair of .45s with those "Lower, Wider" hammers. My muscle memory is so set I had to pull the Trix hammers out and go to regular stand up hammers. I really can't imagine trying those hammers and "Short Stroke" on top of that. TRY BEFORE YOU BUY!! It's a "One Way Trip" PHANTOM: Only if ya can make 'em work and in my case, NO WAY OH ALSO A CAVEAT: I have never been able to shoot Rugers for beans. Dunno why not. Just spray lead.
