Alpo
That's a great thing to hear. But I can't help wondering if it might have also had something to do with the inability to fit in a theater seat.

Some years ago I watched something that talked about him, and one of the things he hated about traveling was that he could never find a bed that he fit on. Pat Riot
I think I sat next to his sister on a plane from Sacramento to Atlanta. I had half the window seat. She had the center.A petit young lady had half the aisle seat. There were no other seats available on the plane anywhere. My back ached for days. I just wanted to get home, but I should have walked off the plane. In the photo above he did the right thing and got 2 seats.
Chantry
Cary Elwes wrote a book called As You Wish: The Making of the Princess Bride and he talked about Andre in it. Cary said he was very nice person and considerate of others. Cary was very positive about the the movie, its cast and the director Rob Reiner. I don't much like Rob Reiner the person, but Rob Reiner the director did a great job with Princess Bride and Andre was the first choice for the role of Fezzick. Alpo
There's a video out there by Fluffy. "Making a racist gift basket". It's a good story. Look it up if you never heard it. But it starts with him telling how he and Martin were driving somewhere, because the airlines always wants to charge him double. And then he just kind of stands there with a perplexed look on his face for a few minutes while the audience busts out laughing.
Forty Rod SASS 3935
I've known some BIG men and all of them were gentle...mostly. like Merlin Olsen: gentle as a kitten until you put a helmet on him and sent him onto a grid iron. Darnell Haney was another one, and Clint Walker. They were also very careful everywhere they went because they almost instinctively realized that they could destroy a lot of things if they were clumsy or careless. Hardpan Curmudgeon SASS #8967
When Sassparilla Kid was just that - a kid - I once delivered him and his ma to the aeropuerto for a trip to visit relatives on the east coast. This was back in the days when you could actually accompany people to the gate ~ and the last passenger to board the "little" commuter plane to Los Angeles was Richard Kiel ("Jaws" from the James Bond movies). At 7' 2" he was two whole inches shorter than Andre the Giant. Nevertheless, the Kid and his ma described the seating adjustments as "airplane Tetris;" but they got him in. Also described as a very kind and gentle soul. Edited September 1 by Hardpan Curmudgeon SASS #8967
