I am looking at a Stoeger/ Uberti 1866 rifle. Are these the current style rifles that can take short stroke kits like the Taylor and Cimarron rifles or are the more like the Navy Arms/Uberti rifles that cannot? Anything else I should know about them? Thanks for the information!!!

The Stoeger marked rifles are current models, and all of the go-fast parts will fit.  The older Navy Arms '66 with the short carrier can be most easily identified visually by the fact that they have a lever safety on the bottom tang (like '73's).

If it has a prefix of w or h before the serial numbers then yes. If it doesn't then the go fast parts won't drop in.

Sure they will.  W prefix means it has the cheapened loading gate, and at some point after that they changed the firing pin extension attachment method from the small pin to the wedge, but the links, springs, etc. are all the same.

You can make most any of the parts fit with a little work and common sense.

Reinforce the tab on the loading gate..

It’s not “will it  break off” but “when will it.. “

Really about the only weak part of the rifle..

That little tab will bend or break and lock you up.

A company used to make a reinforced Loading Gate or Spoon, but have since stopped.  I reinforced mine and have been shooting it for years now without any issues.

So if it has the lever lock short stroke kits won't fit? Serial # is W01152.

It's not the lever lock that is the problem. The issue is that all the dimensions both internally and externally are different than all of the others that Uberti has made.
