If you're from Ohio...

Ah, made in Indiana. Ohio's western annex, where even Buckeyes joke about how bad the roads are.

When I was younger it really used to bug me when people looked down their noses at places that I lived or have lived. Then I moved to California. At first I thought “Man, this is it! This place is cool.” and soon the shine began to crumble off my perceptions of this place.
Many folks should be very happy that people, even inconsequential people, consider their home place to be “unworthy”, “boring”, “unattractive” and called “fly-over country” by elitist scum. Otherwise they might stop by and eventually turn your home into the cesspool that is California.

Ohio is a beautiful state, nothing to do? Rock n Roll Hall of fame. Lake Erie, great fishing. Cedar Point one of the top 5 amusement parks in the country. Ohio River, National Parks, Football Hall of Fame, 2 MLB teams, 2 NFL teams, 1 NBA team. Countless minor league baseball teams. Home to Ohio State University, Case Western Reserve to name only a couple of the many colleges. No there's nothing to do in Ohio!

Why would you even post this ?? Putting down another state is pretty pathetic!:(

Oh, I don't mind a little friendly rivalry between two midwest states. I mean, hoosiers have to try to do something to make themselves feel adequate, right? Now, if it were Michigan, we'd have problems...

Tappan Lake! Caught my first bass on a Rapala lure there. :)

I have decided that once I move back “home” that I am going to Cedar Point. I have never been there and I have a desire to ride some rollercoasters. I also plan to hit Kennywood in Pittsburgh.
I also want to go to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

My wife is from Ohio.  I love to go to her home outside Bowling Green. However I’m not a flat lander and couldn’t live there for that reason. I’ve watched the university cities change into liberal incubators. This is true in pretty much every State.  Kentucky has been my home for over 35 years. I’ve watched the university cities become more and more liberal. Welfare state seems to grow every year. Young people don’t seek worthwhile careers. This is spurred by universities controlling our futures through the retroric they spew. Only parents are to blame for letting these socialist/ communist leftist rich people cotrolling the direction of kids. No state is immune. I will see that I see a slow shift in citizens waking up. Soon it’s going to get really bad when freedom loving hard working people wake up. Then you will see the true woke that exists in this country.

some people have to do stupids things and suffer hard before they awaken

As @DocWard stated in his response above, a little friendly rivalry is to be expected. What's with all this California trash talk. Nothing negative was implied by a meme post that apparently the candle guy had against Ohio.

The post was not meant to offend anyone and if it did then my apologies.

Apology accepted and yes I took some offense to this. What exactly was the purpose of this? You wouldn't want me to start on what I think of Florida do you??

BTW I have never to my knowledge knowingly put down California. I may have put down their gun laws but not the state it self.

Maybe I'm a little thin skinned about the state that I've lived in for 75 years ( -minus one year in sunny California) so for that I apologize.

Just so you know, there are places in Southeastern Ohio that were I to blindfold you and set you down in them, then remove the blindfold, you would be sure you were in Eastern Kentucky or West Virginia with the hills and woods and rural areas. Heck, Cincinnati is a fairly hilly area itself. Up north around Bowling Green though, it is pretty clear where the glaciers went through!

If you come to the eastern part of the state in Geauga County you are in the foothills of the Allegheny mountains. All of Ohio is not flat! There's also some very hilly areas south of Cleveland in Richland County which you could swear they were small mountains. As Doc Ward said the southeastern part of the state borders PA and West Virginia. Pretty big hills down there!

The Cuyahoga River has caught fire 13 times since 1868. :P

Yes it did, all in pretty much a one year period. It, along with Lake Erie were considered ecological disasters. Now, both are considered among the best examples around of what can be done when federal, state, local, business and private resources all pull together in order to work toward saving the environment.

This is to you and Rye. I will never nor intended any slight to Ohio. I have been all over Ohio, hunting and fishing south east north east and loved every minute. I just don’t like any where near the big cities in any state. That’s where the liberalism exists. That was my point. Country is country. My location of choice put my 5 hours either north or south to tennessee where my family is from and puts me near Fort Knox for my benefits that are now pretty much non-existent. Rye, you and I and mad mean mark have shot together at the state match. I have always wanted to shoot up there, I think near Findlay the wife has family there, but I haven’t been able to shoot in 7 years.  Doc, I also always wanted to meet and shoot with you as well. Health has keep me from traveling. In response if I had to move to Ohio, the wife would require it to be around Bowling Green. Hence flat lands.  Even though I miss fishing the Maumee river during white bass and walleye runs which I have done a lot of.

Hope your health gets better so you can shoot again and maybe come visit!

I remember now, and I think I also shot with you also at Hootin’ Holler , . It’s near Daniel Boone National Forest. Great shoot!

I didn't take it as a slight toward Ohio, just a preference, and nothing more. I only mentioned the hills of Southern Ohio for those who might actually be unaware. I had a hunch you probably knew yourself. I avoid the cities myself as much as possible, for a variety of reasons. I grew up in Columbus, but spent much of my time camping and spending time down in Kentucky where my parents, grandparents, great-grandparents and more hail from. So, while I am a Buckeye, and unabashedly so, I'm also a little drawn to my Kentucky / Appalachian roots.

I certainly hope your health improves, and if I ever have reason to get down to Louisville or E-Town, I will be sure to let you know ahead of time, because I would certainly like to meet and shake your hand, even if I can't shoot with you.

Even here in Kent, OH is an Indian Serpent Mound just a mile or two away, and most locals don’t even know about it.

Tends to be a lot of connections and movement between Ohioans and kentuckians. I have a lot of friends whose family movement is exactly that way.

You've probably heard this before, but down in Eastern Kentucky, they said they taught "The 3 Rs." "Readin', (w)ritin', and Route 23" which led North out of the coal mines up to the better paying factory jobs in Ohio and Michigan.

Doc. Two type of friends in Kentucky   The back and forthers  from Ohio and Michigan   My best friend that retired with me from the military has two places. One in the UP which is his home, spends his summer there and winters at his place in place in my beginnings, Tennessee. The rest are all roamers that ended up here lol

The joke among many of my friends is that if you live in Kentucky , your family likely came most from Michigan and Ohio or went back and forth
