Painted Mohawk SASS 77785
Howdy So you buy a rifle for yourself or maybe the Mrs or one of the children..stocks to long , do you cut it yourself , search for another or take it to someone to get the job done. So far I've cut 4.......3 rifles & shotgun..I can say I don't breathe much when sawing but so far so good. The last was a new Uberti comp model that my wife wanted shorter & squared at the butt plate.[ not the normal angle cut they come with ] What's your story ? Jackson Rose, SASS #45478
I have done a few. Patience is the key word.
Pat Riot
Measure 3 times. Measure again. Cut once, but carefully. The finest toothed saw available. Secured in a jig...While tongue against back of front upper teeth and cocked head at just the right angle and “Wallah”! All goes well.
Capt. R. Hugh Kidnme
What Pat said. And, remember to tape the cut area to prevent teeny, tiny splintering.
Chuckwagon McTaggart
I have only done one so far. I used a sliding compound miter saw, making sure to carefully support and clamp the stock to prevent any movement. I also used tape to prevent splintering. It was a $350 Stoeger, so the pucker factor wasn't real high.

Good point! I forgot about that. The stocks that I have cut I used a miter box and saw and I made a wooden jig (pieces of wood in various sizes in the miter box) to keep the stock level and lined up. The piece of wood that I used to “level” the stock to get a square cut was secured directly to the front end of the stock with blue painter’s tape. Chili Ron
Howdy, You think that's 'fun'? Try drilling and cutting into a brand new car to add remote control outside mirrors. My FIRST new car. It came out so sweet some folks said it was factory and I was full of bull. Take a complement however its said.... Best CR
