Hans Christian
It is about that time of life where I need a little bit of help hearing. Any advice on muffs that work well and can be used with a cowboy hat? Hans
Dubious Don #56333
Pro Ears 200 behind the neck @ 70 bucks Caldwell E-max behind the neck @25 bucks Howard leight, which is my new favorite (sorry ProEars) doesn't have a behind the neck model that I can find. I'd go with the ProEars, they're pretty good.
Home Range
these are some of the best MSA Sordin Supreme pro x, Peltor Comtach III TCI Liberator II That said I have 6 pairs of the Howard Leights at my house. They frequently are on sale. I bought the last 2 pairs last month from amazon for $27 a pair. They are good for the money. Some people with weird shaped heads say they dont seal well around the ears. No advice though for wearing with a hat. Edited January 17, 2017 by Home Range
Reuben McCoy Rankin # 34239
A little pricey but I am using Walker Game ears, with added molded ear plugs. They muffle gun shots and amplifie voices. Edited January 17, 2017 by Reuben McCoy Rankin # 34239
G W Wade
A little pricey but I am using Walker Game ears, with added molded ear plugs. They muffle sun shots and amplifie voices. [/qute] This is what I have been using also. But you have to compromise. Little extra noise for being able to hear TO. GW

A little compromise between a little less sound reduction but the ability to hear TO and other range commands GW
Chancy Shot, SASS #67163
I use Pro Ears Pro 300. I can adjust the volume of normal sounds, but loud sounds are cut off. Behind the neck band works well with a cowboy hat. I took a look at Planetoptics web site and could not find the model I have with a behind the neck band. If I was buying today I would get these. http://www.opticsplanet.com/pro-ears-pro-tac-300-nrr-26-hearing-protections.html Chancy
Edward R S Canby, SASS#59971
I use Peltor 6S with a behind the neck band. They are satisfactory but only provide 19 dB protection. I had a pair of Caldwell amplified muffs once. The electronics were inferior.
LostVaquero
I use Walker razor. Behind the neck 31 db reduction
Bad Jeemes Kelly
If you can spend the money, you can get the custom molded in-ear earplugs with electronic inserts. I have a friend that wears hearing aids that uses them for shooting. Looks like the cheapest ones are $900. https://earinc.com/product-category/hunting-shooting/
