SOLD -- THANKS

Good Evening Folks:

I have for sale a Charles Daly Model 500 Side-by-Side Shotgun

B.C. Miroku, in Kochi, Japan, manufactured the Charles Daly Model 500 side-by-side shotguns.

Miroku produced Charles Daly shotguns from 1963 until 1976.

The Model 500 was a straightforward field gun of proven design.

It features an Anson and Deely type boxlock action with a blued receiver, a bit of simple engraving, checkered walnut pistol grip stock and moderate beavertail forend, and blued chopper lump barrels struck full length with a concave (English style) rib.

Double underbolts keep the gun closed.

A single bead at the end of the rib serves as the sight.

The top tang mounted safety is automatic.

Forward is "fire" and back is "safe."

The 500's walnut pistol grip stock and beavertail forend are hand checkered in traditional point patterns. They align the hands nicely with the target.

The forend release is of the Anson push button type.

The 500 is equipped with double triggers and plain extractors.

Specs:

Action: Boxlock

Gauge: 12

Barrel length: 30"

Chambers: I'm not sure if they are 2 3/4 or 3"

Choke: One Barrel Marked "FC" "70 m/m" and the other is marked "M.O.D" and "70 m/m"

Rib: Concave (English style)

Sight: Brass bead

Stock: Checkered walnut pistol grip type with blued steel pistol grip cap

Forend: Checkered walnut beavertail type

Length of pull: 14.25"

Length overall: 46"

Weight: About 7 1/4 pounds

This Charles Daly has spent its whole life as a hunting gun.

It has not been used in a cowboy match.

The gun is in very nice shape.

The bluing is good with most of the wear on the barrels just forward of the receiver, on the bottom & sides of the receiver, and the triggerguard. This comes from all the time it was carried in the field.

The bores shine like mirrors.

The wood is in good condition with some small bumps and scratches from use -- nothing major.

Finish wear on the wood.

Solid Gun.

First "I'll take it" posted here gets it.

$725 shipped to your FFL -- Be sure he will accept it from a private citizen.

It will ship Fedex ground, fully insured.

Thanks for looking.

Hi J-BAR:

Opens all the way.

Only the extractor sticks out.

Hope this answers your question.

Really, this SXS has not sold yet! Charles Daly 500 is one of the best shotguns ever made for CAS. Heavy duty like a Cummins diesel. Just as good if not better than Browning BSS or SKB. I like the double trigger set up better than single trigger, and they are mechanical triggers.

A Charles Daly 500 will out last 10 Stoegers. All you folks looking to purchase any shotgun, this gun will last longer

and perform better than any shotguns out there. Call Johnny Meadows and ask for his opinion.

FYI - These were made by Miroku in Japan until the middle 1970's when Miroku started making the Browning BSS'. The Daly 500 has double triggers and extractors; the BSS has a single trigger and ejectors. Miroku also made the early SKB SxS shotguns. They still make lots of guns for Browning. Good stuff.
