Poet Jones 99980 Posted November 23, 2014 Posted November 23, 2014 That Buffalo was a real nice touch on Hell on Wheels last nite! Crazy scene with Cullen and the Buffalo both staring at the railroad tracks and shaking their heads. Nice symbolism! Apparently there were still buffalo roaming Wyoming at that time. Not many I guess, we had been slaughtering them wholesale for some time by then. Maybe that poor lone buffalo ran away from it's herd so as not to be killed?
Yul Lose Posted November 23, 2014 Posted November 23, 2014 Actually there were still millions of bison during that time frame. The railroad contributed heavily to their demise according to some.
Boon Doggle Posted November 23, 2014 Posted November 23, 2014 The Buffalo was a very nice touch. As for the rest of the show; No Comment.
Utah Bob #35998 Posted November 23, 2014 Posted November 23, 2014 The railroad brought thousands of Bison hunters west. And that was that.
Three Foot Johnson Posted November 23, 2014 Posted November 23, 2014 In the late 1880's, by some accounts, there were perhaps as few as 85 buffalo left in the US, and maybe another 8 in Canada.
Yul Lose Posted November 23, 2014 Posted November 23, 2014 Yep it took less than 20 years to nearly exterminate them.
Badger Mountain Charlie SASS #43172 Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 That is because the buffalo didn't shoot back.
Three Foot Johnson Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 Or they didn't take enough penicillin. http://www.petersenshunting.com/featured/was-the-buffalo-nearly-hunted-to-near-extinction/
Rye Miles #13621 Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 I enjoyed the heck outta this last episode. Can hardly wait for it to come back!
Shorty Jack Hammer Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 I just wish they didn't wait so long between seasons. They set it up good for a final showdown between the swede and Bohanen
