Starting Monday night the AHC channel will be running a documentary on ww1 that includes rare footage...some in color.

I wish I had cable. I'd love to see that stuff.

December 1903 the Wright Brothers fly 120 feet at Kitty Hawk, NC.

By 1917 planes had been developed into bomber, observation and fighters. Fighters could fly over 150 mph, up to 20k feet and had props synchronized to their machine guns. What an amazing fourteen years.

I have a number of books by and about WWI participants. 'All Quite on the Western Front' is a very good novel by and about a German soldier. 'Make the Kaiser Dance' is 100 short stories of WW1 participants. Von Trapps' 'Memoirs of a U-Boat Captain' is also a great read.

And compare those to what we have now, only 100 years later.
