Early yesterday Five RCMP officers were gunned down In New Brunswick. Three killed, two wounded. They caught the culprit alive after a 24 hr search. I was surprised that he was taken alive.

My fiancee (who lives in Canada) and I were just talking about the shootings last night. I told her I'd rather he be caught and convicted, even if they won't execute him. Dying in a shootout or by his own hand is the coward's way out, and it encourages other freaks who want to get their name in the news. They should treat him like the dog that he is - caged, muzzled, and hated for the rest of his life.

I'd be happier if it happened someplace.where they're not afraid to put down rabid dogs, but they've made their choice and they'll live with it. I don't live there so I have no say in the matter.

Sadly as a cop killer he will be a hero in prison

That's the sad truth.

That's my point. These cowards don't want to face a lifetime of knowing they're screwups, so I think a fitting punishment is a lifetime of knowing that's exactly what they are. That and the fact that they'll die a nameless, faceless prisoner, not a notorious criminal whose name will be repeated on CNN for years to come.

Got an email from Frenchy Cannuck....he works in Moncton. He only worked a half day and then went back home. Man that's scary stuff right there. I'm glad the perp has been apprehended.....hopefully he'll get the "justice" he deserves. I wonder if New Brunswick has the death penalty where he can meet his demise rather than rot in jail for the rest of his natural born life?

Canada does not have the death penalty.

I don't think any of Canada has capital punishment. They're not like the US where most crimes and punishments are defined by the individual states. Their federal government retains most of that power.

No capital punishment up here. We have too many lefty hug a thug types who abhor capital punishment. So, we will feed him his three squares for the rest of his life.
