  1. Cimarron seems to have gotten a bunch of these recently. Gunbroker has quite of few NIB listings ranging from $500-700. Cimarron's website has an MSRP ranging from $690-765.
  2. I own both a Staccato C2 and P. Easily the best shooting handguns I own. Worth 3 to 4 times the equivalently sized Glock or Sig pistol? That is up to you. That being said you might want to consider the newer Staccato models that take the Glock magazines, the Staccato 2011 mags for the C2 and P are pricey.
  3. Its been a little while, but when I was in college you could withdraw from a class before midterms and it would not count towards your GPA. Vs if you waited until after midterms to drop a class it would have a negative impact on your GPA. This was mainly applicable to kids that needed good grades for transfers or scholarships.
  4. That will depend entirely on the price paid. Need a lot more details. The D prefix indicates it is an all American made gun, so that is the more valuable of the USFAs. Based off of gunbroker prices Colts can vary a lot across generations, caliber, and configuration but I have yet to see any 2nd gens in 98%+ condition sell for less than $2000. Again with the USFAs caliber, finish options, and configuration can make them vary a lot, but even a high end USFA won't command the prices of a very nice 2nd gen Colt IMHO. Bottom line is if neither seller or buyer could tell the difference between a USFA and 2nd gen Colt they probably weren't up to date on prices either. So I don't really think this qualifies as a scam, but more a fool and his money. Again though, it really depends on the price paid.
  5. I joined SASS and shot my first match in the month of July. I recalled that July was also a character in Lonesome Dove, but there were already a number of variants of July Johnson in the SASS records. My real last name is pretty complicated and always gets misspelled and mispronounced, so I opted to keep it simple.
  6. 1fg or reenactor grade powder are both really smokey. I would not add anything to the powder it self.
  7. Having played around with a Mossberg Shockwave, a 14" barrel seems like a pretty good length for a shotgun intended for close range but the lack of a stock makes it totally worthless. If NFA laws magically went away, I might consider shortening my 1887 to whatever length the magazine tube is.
  8. I'll take it. PM on the way.
  9. If you are using a load within published margins there should not be an issue. I have been told that small pistol magnums and small rifle standards are essentially the same. My chronograph agrees with this claim. Typically I only use a mag primer if I am noticing un-burned powder with a particular gun/load combo.
  10. I doubt short stroke kits for Uberti rifles will work on the US made Taylor TC73. Based off the website and watching videos of people shooting it the rifle already appears to have a shorter stroke, much like the Miroku. I suppose a cut and weld style short stroke would still be an option.
  11. I assume neither the 66 or the 73 have a loading gate. Do they load sort of like a Henry 22?
  12. 50-80mph winds can take the fun out of anything. Aside from wind, what was more difficult? What were average distances and target size? The videos make this very hard to tell. To OP, I personally like the occasional "difficult" stage that involves further away or smaller targets. What I don't like is a convoluted pattern.
  13. Thanks. Wasn't sure if Uberti had sort of standardized those parts or not.
  14. I've complained about this before, but whoever got to name guns at Ruger needs be beat with a stick. I assume the 44mag New Vaquero and is still an original sized Vaquero vs the New Vaqueros in 357/45colt are the smaller guns. While on this topic, what size grips frames are the 3-screw Single Sixes?
  15. Just out of curiosity... Will a Uberti 73 loading gate fit a 66?
  16. Unless OP shoots under a different alias... He didn't shoot at EoT either, so I think this is about something else. I watched a couple of youtube videos from shooters at EoT and it looked like a fun match to me.
  17. Yeah I feel like I am missing something too. All the big annual matches BT, WR, EoT are all on my bucket list of matches to attend. Everyone I know that has been to them has always had fun. I'm not really sure what the OP is asking about difficulty. I will say its more fun to win 3rd place in a category with ten shooters, than 1st place in a category with one. My personal proudest achievement is a 1st place in a Plainsman sidematch, that was arguably a more difficult target array and challenge with cap guns and all, but still a lot of fun.
  18. Why? The cheapest SxS is easily double the cost of a Stevens 301. Not to mention the SxS is almost double the weight. Recoil with my reloads is not an issue, and the fact that ejectors are allowed on single shots makes it way easier for a kid to handle the reloading/unloading process.
  19. Recently picked up a Stevens/Savage 301. The gun is functional but pretty rough. Going to shorten the stock for my son to use in the Buckaroo category and load some very light shells. Can anyone advise me on how to go about polishing it up to make it easier to open?
  20. Loading up some shot shells with APP. New bottle never been opened. Had it for 2-3 years in my reloading shop (not climate controlled). I noticed some large lumps as though humidity had made it into the bottle. They crumbled back down to normal with just a little poking and seemed to load up fine. Just curious if anyone else has seen this or experienced issues from this?
  21. Now that's wild. I think @Abilene, SASS # 27489 must be right about the giant box of mixed hammers.
  22. I purchased a pair of new Pietta GW2s in 2021 or 22 in 44-40 with 7.5" barrels. They both have the cross hatch pattern shown on the left hand side of Abilene's photo. IMHO the current production Pietta center fire clones are the best bang for the buck right now.
  23. Excellent point.
  24. https://youtube.com/shorts/Dfizrk_DcSc?si=Nte8zCTxrFcLSTpk https://youtube.com/shorts/7OeZWRAo0SI?si=UlwOiGx_OrJXgklS https://youtube.com/shorts/pRgrGtrfbEE?si=Vyyzp6-y8-1e-l_J Dragon Hill Dave is probably the fastest duelist I have seen in person. At least a few years ago he told me he does not slip fire. He is an extremely smooth shooter.
  25. Flat triggers are the current thing that is in style. Specifically when it comes to Sig striker fired handguns and striker fired handguns in general, I do prefer the feel of a flat faced trigger and do seem to shoot them better too. When I first started shooting, a mentor loved those "trigger shoes" and had them installed on almost everything he owned. I suppose the trigger shoe had been popular at one point in time, but I always found them awkward.
