  1. The Pietta base pin (cylinder pin) is interchangeable with Uberti (and Colt as well, I believe). The very first thing, and only, thing I did to my one Pietta was to put an Uberti base pin in it. Hate the Pietta pin.
  2. Well Hoss, sometimes you just have to get discombobulated before you can get combobulated.
  3. Yes. Boogie has a plethora of parts: https://sbgwllc.com
  4. I have two Texas Jacks belts, made by El Paso Saddlery. I know you said double loop, but the singles are close together and I just leave an empty loop between pairs. I've had one of them for a long time and the loops are still tight and will hold shells pulled up high (within reason, of course). Maybe you are looking for a web belt that uses leather loops, these are canvas.
  5. Sorry, copper plated steel and too much ricochet. We'd have to settle for pellet guns.
  6. I had no problems getting parts for my '94 from Winchester. Oh wait, that was 25 years ago. Maybe a good hardware store if you don't find them elsewhere. Good luck.
  7. My first big match was Comancheria Days in 2000. I was on Non-Stop and Gunzilla's posse. Seeing the camaraderie between those two and all the laughs, I was spoiled for life.
  8. That's why I'm still happy with the Baikal I've had for 24 years - I've never borrowed an SKB! (But I am thinking about it)
  9. Well, they say that it takes longer to master an '87. But also, if you have a top 'smith work on the '87 it will probably be about as good as an '87 can get, but if you have a top 'smith work on a Stoeger, it is still just a Stoeger and not an SKB.
  10. Slim, did you stop your leather business? Website no longer up.
  11. Hard to tell from a some little pics, but it looks like it is worth about the price that is listed. Looks can be deceiving but you usually get what you pay for. edit to add: looked at their website, mostly fetish stuff. Personally, I wouldn't waste my money.
  12. Be careful calling it a "Liberty". Before the Liberty II, there was a Liberty, made in Spain. It did not have a good reputation. To confuse matters, the Liberty II has "Liberty" marked on the barrels, but Liberty II is marked on the red/white/blue box as shown above. If you don't have the box and see one, just make sure it is made in Turkey.
  13. If you can't find a used one, try VTI, Dixie, Cimarron, or Taylors. That looks good on the opentop! Good luck.
  14. If you find a used belt you like but it isn't long enough, I know some cowboys who use a short "extension" belt to keep using ones they've outgrown.
  15. I guess one more thing you might consider is how your rifle throws the empties. Not all Marlins are the same, of course, but in general many Marlins throw them to the right and forward. Depending on the particular rifle, the stage design, where you stand, etc. you may lose a lot of brass forward of the line that can't be reached. So, .38 brass being cheaper and more plentiful may or may not be a concern for that reason.
  16. When I got mine I took a bit too much off one of the hammer springs and it wasn't reliable. It was several years before KBI had parts available and I could buy extras. If your friend buys the Liberty II, he should immediately order new springs from CZ while he can get them.
  17. Well darn, I was thinking that I'm sure to see it in person when he comes to the Texas state match in May. Guess I'll have to settle for pictures. I do get to drool over see Big Iron Patnode's (it was for CoJack) Yul cart regularly.
  18. There's one right at the intersection of the interstate close to the range. Is that where you are? A D and I ate there almost every day when we worked at Winter Range. And thanks again! I haven't had time to load any of those Alcan hulls lately, but I will!
  19. I had one. I lightened the springs and it was fine. However, it had less drop to the stock than my TTN and didn't point as well for me, so I finally sold it a couple years ago for $600.
  20. Dang! I hate it when the idea in my head of what somebody looks like gets dashed!
  21. I was using 15.0gr of Clays because someone recommended it and it was fine, though I saw others used less. When Clays got low, I switched to 14.2gr of WST.
  22. You need to find out what it likes. If others with that rather new model can share results, that's good. Otherwise, buy, borrow, or load some various length ammo, dummies even better, and give it a try. If it works best with a certain OAL then you can load either .38's or .357's to that length.
  23. Heck, I'd buy it at that price just to try it out. That is, if I didn't already have two canvas belts. Mine are both Texas Jacks (El Paso Saddlery) and the loops are tight enough that you can pull the shells out quite a bit and they will hold. I usually load the loops in pairs with an empty loop between. And I stitched one loop down the middle to make a reload loop for a .38. They work fine but since I bought a used Doc Noper belt that's what I mostly use. My only gripe about that is it loses some shells from movement.
