Evidence gun engraving?

Recommended Posts

Quite common unfortunately. We have two very nice S&W revolvers in the shop right now with those numbers.

I worked in an era when that was common - I have been told, not done so much the last couple of decades.

The Barnmaster had several stolen and some were recovered but the idiots did the same thing. For crying out loud remove a grip if you absolutely have to engrave a tracking number.
Thankfully evidence custodians can now track an evidence item with a serial number with that number.

The gun shop that I used to live at. They traded three or four used Glocks to the local cops for several guns from evidence. And I bought four of them. A Colt Jr in 25, a early '70s 94 Winchester in 30/30. Remington 1100 in 12 gauge and a Rossi overland, also in 12 gauge. None of the four had any kind of evidence numbers scribed on them.
