Alpo Posted November 1, 2024 Posted November 1, 2024 You have people that are allergic to peanuts. Is it likely they would also be allergic to tree nuts? Probably because it was Halloween I just remembered a story I read some years back. Rich people. They didn't want kids coming up and knocking on the door. So on the gate of their estate was hung a bucket full of full size Snickers and another bucket full of Hershey's with almonds. And there was a note telling how to use the intercom, to let the butler know that the bucket was empty and he would come out and refill it. Since I'm allergic to peanuts, I probably should not be eating one of those Snickers - they got peanuts in them. But would the Hershey's almond bar hurt me? Now it could be that the peanut allergic kid is just as likely to be allergic to almonds as the kid across the street that's not allergic to anything else is. Or it could be that his peanut allergy makes him susceptible to an almond allergy. I don't know. Maybe one of y'all does.
Blackwater 53393 Posted November 1, 2024 Posted November 1, 2024 Some are allergic to one or the other. Some are allergic to both. EDIT: Peanuts are not “nuts”. They are a kind of bean/legume. Some people that are allergic to peanuts are also allergic to string beans and other legumes. It’s only a small percentage, somewhere around 5 to 10%.

Lawdog Dago Dom Posted November 1, 2024 Posted November 1, 2024 I don't think this works with nuts, but I was told that consuming locally raised honey helps with resistance to airborne allergens, since the bees are busy in pollen all day.
