Posting Photos

I have been trying to post photos for a long time. When I think I have it, I don’t. It is beyond frustrating. Yes, I have read some instructions, but always get fouled up. I don’t even know what “Tags” are, or where to find the answer.

If anyone cares to help a beyond-senior citizen and 32-year CAS participant solve this problem, it would be greatly appreciated. A PM response would be best. Thank you.

Hi John,

I tried writing to you, but got a message reading you couldn’t be contacted. So I’m

trying again. I have n Apple iPad and Mac-mini. Any help you can give posting photos will be greatly appreciated. I’m 87, and technologically challenged, so you may need patience.  Thank you.

I'll post a how-to in this thread, might not be until tomorrow. Will be pictures with circles and arrows.

1.  click on the "choose files" link at the bottom of the posting window then,

2. locate the file on your computer, then click "open" on your computer screen.  That will place a preview of your photo at the bottom of the screen.

3.  Then place your cursor where you want the photo appear in your message.

4.  Now click on the photo preview at the bottom again.

That should place your photo in the location you selected.

5.  Finally, click on the "Submit" button.

  • 3 weeks later...

I discovered today that ya can't copy/paste a pic to a PM anymore either. Seemingly it has to be a URL address. I finally did a share from Google photos.

Apparently you are right - odd.

It is odd!! No reason they can't make messaging work like the forum and have more storage as well so that everybody's inboxes wouldn't always be full. But posting pix should certainly be easier than giving access to your Google Photos account. JMHO

Well, my iPad is too old to work with this site. So this is from my laptop. MacBook Pro, Sonoma 14.7.1, in Safari. I'm logged in to the forum, in this thread, and composing this post.

First, I have a picture saved on my desktop. The picture got there by taking it with my phone, syncing the phone to Photos. Then in Photos, I selected it and exported it to the desktop.

The next step on this site in the posting window is to click choose files (1):

In the next window, click on the file (2) and then click the Upload button(3):

The file shows up as an uploaded image(4):

Click where you want the image to go (5), then click on Insert (6) (put the mouse curser over the picture to see the "Insert"  word):

And there it is! Click the Submit Reply button(7) to make the post.

I suggest trying this first, the next post will be posting an Internet meme from a link.

So now a link to a picture on the Internet. First, I found a picture in the Internet and copied the link to it:

Click where you want the image to be in your post. Then click the "Other Media" button(1):

From the menu, choose "Insert Image from URL"(2):
