Mild curiosity

In the Olympics, do they have men's sports and women's sports? Or just Sports and women's sports?

Like is it the men's 100 meter hurdles and the women's 100 meter hurdles, or is it the 100 meter hurdles and the women's 100 meter hurdles?

As I said before, I have not watched the Olympics since Olga Korbut. But I'm mildly curious.

They have Sports.  After that they add categories.

for example, I have a friend who was a lightweight rower on an eight on the US TEAM.  THe Olympic year that he was on the team there was no Olympic competition for lightweights, there was for the worlds and various internationals but not the Olympics. Rowing wanted to add lightweights but part of the rivalry among the sports is medal-count for the sport. Before Rowing could add lightweights or women, track and field would want to add competitions as would swimming, diving and others. And it’s nine total medals for each category of eights (coxswain too).

I perhaps future games will have Men; Women and maybe "Other"?

Or will the OIC create events for the other 67 genders?

Don't give em any ideas!
