Doc McCoy, SASS #8381 Posted August 14, 2024 Posted August 14, 2024 We lost Ranger Sgt Jake McCandless on August 6, 2024 to a heart attack. He was not alone, the nurse at his senior living site was making her rounds talking with residents when it happened. He went to the ED for a long attempt to bring him back to us, but it wasn’t to be. Sgt. Jake was a significant part of CAS in Vermont for many years, a founding member of the Verdant Mountain Vigilantes. He started out in CAS in CA in the 1980s, his first SASS No. was 149. He hasn’t been active for a few years due to vision and mobility issues but was still a part of the Verdant Mountain Vigilantes. He was one of the first friends I made when I started the game in 1995. We will miss him. Vaya con Dios.
Eyesa Horg Posted August 14, 2024 Posted August 14, 2024 Sgt. Jake will be sorely missed by all of us. RIP Mark Eyesa & Ellie
Yankee, SASS #266 Posted August 14, 2024 Posted August 14, 2024 Sgt. Jake was a fountain of knowledge about Cowboy Action Shooting when we formed the Verdant Mountain Vigilantes in 1994. The rest of us were enthusiastic greenhorns eager to replicate the action in the western movies of our youth. He was a great guy. Godspeed my friend. Yankee
