Calamity Kris
I just arrived home and found this email, purportedly from SASS HQ.: Scam Alert Greetings! Some members have reported receiving questionable emails from an email account claiming to be Misty Moonshine. These emails are asking for help in purchasing gifts for Club Presidents in the form of gift cards. These are scam emails sent for phishing purposes. To protect yourself, do not click any links or reply to these emails. The email that is being used for this scam is singleactionshootingsociety@gmail.com. Be sure and report these emails as junk through your email provider. Sincerely, The SASS HQ Team 2
John Kloehr
This came up recently. Sass members with exposed email addresses are getting spam. I got the same email (above). So far, I have not seen reports of anyone who does not have a publicly accessible address getting the spam. The email in the post above is legitimate (though it really should have come from sassnet.com, not some email service). The information in the link below is about the spam email. For those who reported it, I was able to quickly find their email addresses "in the wild." Phantom I meant to reference the thread, not your specific post. I looked through the activity log to find the thread. The top entry included your last post. I'll see if I can easily fix the link to refer to only the thread. On edit: Fixed Edited July 17 by John Kloehr
Alpo
So --- even though this is a good warning, this email is not legitimately from SASS? I mean, if I get an email from Misty, or from Hardpan, or from Utah Bob, telling me that I need to go down to Walmart and buy gift cards and send them to him for whatever reason - I'm going to figure that's a scam and throw it away. Matter of fact, if I got an email from Donald Trump asking me to send them Walmart gift cards I would throw it away. I can see someone asking me for money, but gift cards? That just screams SCAM. So I suppose this is a good warning, even if it didn't come from Misty.
bgavin
On a kinda related note, if you want to see a scam in action, check out the latest Jason Statham flick called The Beekeeper. The scene where the old woman gets scammed out of everything she owns (due to her own stupidity) is heart wrenching. Scams are Big Money. They persist entirely because they work so well.

In order to send out an email to all of our active members in one fell swoop we use an email platform that allows us to do so. I hope you have a wonderful day and if you have any questions please feel free to reach out. Only email I ever get from SASS either tells me somebody quoted one of my posts or I have a PM.

Hi Alpo, After reviewing , it looks like your email account is blocking all emails from sass, this would include the monthly member bulletin and any updates. It shows us that the emails are bouncing back suspended which would make sense as to why you are not receiving them. Please be sure to mark sass@sassnet.com as a safe email and moving forward you should receive them with no issues!
