Subdeacon Joe Posted June 23, 2024 Posted June 23, 2024 Found on FB San Francisco Masonic Lodge Officers Photo from 1912. Here is the photo with the names that were written on the reverse. Genealogists: Tell us about these men!
Pat Riot Posted June 23, 2024 Posted June 23, 2024 Well, it’s obvious they like dresses. That’s all I got…

Rip Snorter Posted June 23, 2024 Posted June 23, 2024 Swords are involved as well! Never knew, you can be recommended by friends, but you have to make a formal request for membership. Or so the friend told me. No, but I thanked him. Frat in College told me about myself.

Alpo Posted June 24, 2024 Posted June 24, 2024 I've seen a lot of photographs in the newspaper of installations. Never seen a king or a high priest though.

The only Mason in Lodge with a sword is the Tiler (guardian at the entry door) and it's strictly ceremonial. Masons are not supposed to ask someone if they want to become a Mason. The potential candidate is supposed to ask about the craft, then they can start the process. My Dad was a Mason and Master of his Lodge and he never asked me to be a Mason, I asked one of his friends (who was a Mason) what it was all about. I opened the door and I started my journey.

I don't recall exactly what that was for, I think it was something for Bright Monday. But we were "wearing dresses."

He didn't ask me if I wanted to join, I can't recall the conversation many years back in time, but it was not an obvious one.
