It's an additional challenge for sure. Some can deal with it better than others. Speaking only for myself, it's a simple choice, shoot left handed (not happening) shoot with both eyes open and see two front sights (nope) or close my left eye when shooting and give up some depth perception and peripheral vision. I choose the last option.

Warden Callaway
I, apparently, don't have a dominant eye. I mostly use my right but find I often use my left eye with my left gun. Not by training or habit, just happens.

If you focus, both eyes open, on a 'smallish' object let's say 10 feet or farther away from you and frame it with your fingers, then close an eye and see if you can still see the object through the box your fingers are forming you can establish which eye is dominant. People who are right eye dominant will not be able to see the object through the finger box with their right eye closed, it will be obstructed by their fingers/hands. When their left eye is closed the object will still be centered in the box.

I don’t have any tips to add, because I’ve only been shooting (double) Duelist for six months. I will ask those that do - both eyes open, or shut one, or switch with each hand? I’ve tried them all. I am cross-dominant, so I am right-handed but left-eye-dominant. I’ve blamed poor shooting on my left eye right hand dominance misfortune, but I’m not sure it matters. Good question, and one often misunderstood. It goes hand in hand with another often asked question, and that is do you focus on the target or your sights? I'll explain why that's relevant after I explain why I keep both eyes open. Two eyes open allows for faster target acquisition and we're speed shooting. If you keep both eyes open and look at the target, you will see 2 sets of sights. It doesn't matter which set you line up with the target. Either set will be a "hit". Try this(if you have 2 eyes you can see out of): With UNLOADED pistol sitting in your recliner, look at an object 10-15 feet away. For instance the eye of one of your bunkhouse boss' figurines or a screw on a cabinet door. With both eyes looking at that object, raise your pistol up in front of it without moving your eyes from the object. You will see not only 2 sets of sights, you'll see 2 pistols. Without moving your eyes from the object bring the LEFT pistol in line with that object and close your RIGHT eye. You will be on target. Now without moving your eye from that object, bring the RIGHT pistol in line with it and close your LEFT eye. You will be on target. It's not magic, it's geometry. Now let me get back to the target vs sights question I said was relevant. Both eyes open and on the target makes it where I don't have to "track" my sights to the target and is faster for me and maybe you too. To find out, try this: Sitting in that recliner you like so much, focus on an object 2.5-3ft away. Maybe another figurine or a boob, doesn't matter. With your hands on your knees and your eyes focusing on the object, touch it with your finger. Pretty easy huh? Now while you're still in that recliner and your hands back to your knees, focus your eyes only on the tip of your finger. While not moving your eyes from the tip of your finger, touch that same object. Not as easy or quick is it? That last one is tantamount to tracking your sights to find the target vs just looking at the target and squeezing the trigger when you are covering. So not only can I acquire my target quicker with 2 eyes open because I have a wider field of vision, I don't have to track my sights to the target because I'm not focusing on them. God gave us two eyes, use them if you got them. There's another long post to apologize for. I could've just said I'm a whole lot purtier without one eye squinted shut. I finished 3 in category but I was state champ duelist because the top 2 were out of state competitors. I will be facing them again in August for the Illinois state match, hoping I can beat them this time..
Lucky Lead Pepper
I had my fastest ever stage time last Saturday. It was stand and deliver, 1892 round count on 4 targets and 2 shotgun KD's. I shot the rifle first with a 1,3,4,2 sweep, leaving me with 5 round pistol dumps on the center targets. My time was 15.37. I went into this match with the intention of going as fast as I could not worrying about misses. I had 3 misses total, but the blind spotters only saw 2 of them I think for the next few months, I'm just going to shoot as fast as I can and hope I clean up the misses along the way.
