Shagnasty Pete
Howdy all! This is such an awesome community. I thank you all for the advice and recommendations, they’ve proven most helpful. Thought I’d toss this shotshell receipe out here and see what feedback rolls in. Looking for comments on the following receipe before I fire up the new press: Winchester AA-HS, 2-3/4” hull ClayBuster WAA12L wad 7/8 oz of #7.5 lead shot from “Shooting Fox” - thanks, Fox! Cheddite CH209 primer 14 grains of Clay Dot Thanks again everyone, you’re as good as they come. ”Shagnasty” Edited February 29 by Shagnasty Pete General
Randy Saint Eagle, SASS # 64903
Sounds like it should be fine, I think I was using about 14.4gr. when I was using Clay Dot. Load a few and see how they work. Randy
Wild Eagle
That was my load back in the olden days when I could still find clay dot. Shoots sweet, I think you'll like it.
Garrison Joe, SASS #60708
Second that load. Light and reliable. good luck, GJ
Abilene, SASS # 27489
I was using 15.0gr of Clays because someone recommended it and it was fine, though I saw others used less. When Clays got low, I switched to 14.2gr of WST.

Texas Maverick
My recipe for over 5 years: • AA or Remington Hull • Win 209 Primer • 13.5 grains Clay Dot (MEC #25) • grey wad Claybuster 0178 (for STS hulls) • pink wad Claybuster 1 oz (for AA hulls) • 7/8 ounce #8 shot Knocks down anything I have shot at TM
Nutmeg Ryder, SASS # 74966
The recipe you listed is the same I I have been using for nearly 10 years. The primers change, but the rest stays the same. Everyone in a while the powder changes, but Clays, Clay Dot are pretty interchangeable, and I felt no difference between them. These take down every target I have seen, as long as I do my job, but they have low recoil for a potentially faster second shot without being weak. Yeah, I like it a lot.
