Iron Jim Rackham
Best wishes to all. I'm looking at transforaminal interbody fusion in another 6 weeks, and am somewhat apprehensive. I've got 2 cysts at L4 and L5 that have not responded well to pressurization, aspiration or steroid injections and am now looking at surgerical removal of the cysts and implantation of titanium rods. The surgery iteself takes several hours, and I'm cusrious to know how long recovery "typically" takes. The orthopedic and neurosurgeon expect me to spend several days in the hospital. How long does it usually takes to start walking around, and how long until you're back on the range in shooting shape?
SHOOTIN FOX
Iron Jim plan on 5-6 days in the hospital. 30 days in bed or in a recliner. 2-3 months with a walker or cane. 6 months with a brace. do exactly what the Doctor says for rehab. I see mine Wednesday for clearance to try to start shooting. 90 days post op. Fox

Cemetery
How did everybody go about finding the doctors they decided to go with for their spinal surgery? I have spinal surgeon I have seen for my back pain, and I decided on him based on the fact he did spinal surgery on a friend of mine, and she has had no issues with her back since. Snakebite Dust SASS 75484
I would recommend a neurosurgeon and not an orthopedic surgeon. I had a couple vertebrae fused in my neck with a cadaver bone a few years ago but nothing like you guys are talking. best advice I can offer is do everything that they tell you to do and don’t do the things they tell you to not do!
