Tom Bullweed
I shoot a salt&pepper OMVs ( one blued and one bright stainless) in .45 Colt. I want to find a source or gunsmith to get matching cylinders in .45 ACP. I may be willing to have the blued gun cylinder converted. I shot IPSC for years and have lots of loaded LSWC ACPs. Bear Run Butch
Tom Ruger 45 acp wheel guns head space on the cartridge that's so the shells do not fall through. So, you better trim each case, or you will run into problems seating the rounds. I have been down this road. Now if your shooting new cartridges they will work fine. just a head up. Sound idea just not practical. Butch

Converting a cylinder would require sleeving and reboring the chambers.

Converting a cylinder would require sleeving and reboring the chambers. They've made them, and they can run good, but they are very ammunition sensitive for reliability. I think you will find the cost of getting cylinders, either made or buying used and having them fitted, may make burning up your stash of ammo impractical. Used 45acp cylinders turn up on Ebay occasionally and will usually be several hundred dollars. A different option would be to hunt up convertible guns(with the 2 cylinders), buy them, keep the desired cylinder and sell the guns with just the 45 colt cylinder. Sometimes they will "drop in" the keeper gun, other times not so much. Good luck with your project!
J. Frank Norfleet
I disagree. I have had a pair of Ruger New Vaqueros in 45 ACP for over 10 years. I run everything through them, new and reloads. If it will case gauge it will chamber. I shoot a lot of 45 ACP through 1911's. It is the only case I know that actually gets shorter the more you reload it. JFN
meesterpaul
I run salt n pepper too. If we find two sets we can split 'em.
Bullett Sass 19707
I have a ruger 45 acp cylinder that I have used in my OMV ruger. As best as I can measure 1.84 in at the part where the base pin goes through to the star on the back of the cylinder. And 1.71 in the length of the cylinder portion that holds the shell. Here are some pictures. Thanks Bullett
