Alpo
Excellent excellent movie. And this is one of my favorite scenes. The boyfriend is bringing his parents to dinner, and everyone at the house thinks that's tomorrow. In this scene, the younger sister - who has aspirations of becoming a ballerina - is getting a lesson from her instructor, accompanied by her husband on the xylophone. Grandpa is playing darts with himself. Mother is painting. The aspiring ballerina is Ann Miller. Ann Miller is an excellent dancer. But you don't really realize how good someone is, until you see them intentionally being bad.
Trailrider #896
Jack Benny played the violin terribly on his radio and TV programs. But Benny Kabelski was actually a violin virtuoso. You have to be good to play bad!
Alpo
I found this interesting. Walter Taylor, whose friends nicknamed him W, which over time got shortened to Dub, got this - his first movie role - because they needed someone that could play the xylophone.
