Site to search serial number for krag

I need to see when my 30.40 krag was made to see how to ship it.  Years ago on an old computer I had a site book marked but can't remember what it was.

It really helps to make sure you have the correct number.

I just looked mine up on that list. Five digit number - 11xxx.

That should have it being made in 1895. But my gun is plainly stamped 1898. Hmmmmm.

Went and got the gun and looked at it, more closely. Ahh. Six digit number - 111xxx. Yeah that's 1898.

What about the 1895 Carbine supposed to be only 10,000 made no reference on the list double hmmm

My understanding is that the carbines did not have a specific serial number range.  They were mixed in with the rifles.  That's one of the reasons it's so hard to authenticate a genuine carbine.

Looks like mine was made in 1898, so if I understand the law right, I can ship it directly to the buyer,  correct?

It is considered an antique by the Feds and OK by them to ship directly to a regular person but some states have additional restrictions so you best verify for the state shipping to.

ALWAYS check with BATF after getting info from the Saloon. Just in case. ;)
