They're tough, you know. Here in Tennessee, we'd figure someone had just a little too much 'Splo', if ya know what I mean. And if they happen to get 'kissed' by ole Mr Rattler, it won't matter cause they already have enough anti-venom in their system to negate any poison from the kiss. ..........Widder
Waxahachie Kid #17017 L
Well, a rattlesnake can strike at 9.5 feet per second, so tough as I may be, from being from here, I ain't fast enough to escape a strike. I made a deal with rattlesnakes, (all snakes actually) many years ago. They don't bother me, and I won't kill them. In case anyone wonders....rattlesnakes, cotton-mouth moccasins, copper-heads, coral snakes, are the main reasons God inspired man to create shotguns!!! I will give the rattlesnakes a couple of things. They eat rats/mice, which I really detest...and....they MAY give you a warning, when you get too close, or before they make up their little socialist minds to strike. They do make good hat-bands, and belts, though. Nope, I never ate one, and don't intend to. To me, it would be like eating a rat, by proxy!!!! W.K. Waxahachie Kid #17017 L
If you like to read, a very interesting, and entertaining book, is one written many years ago, by J. Frank Dobie, called, not surprisingly, "Rattlesnakes". It is still in print. W.K.
J-BAR #18287
This article appeared in the New Yorker Magazine when I was in graduate school. Kinda left an impression on me. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.newyorker.com/magazine/1961/01/21/a-certain-contribution/amp
