Value of pedersoli trapdoor

Recommended Posts

Local store had a pedersoli trapdoor carbine that had zero carbon in the chamber anywhere and barrel looks unused.   It appears as new in box.  What is a good price?

Then they are overpriced as they want 900.  I have always wanted a trapdoor carbine but backed off the real ones since so many rifles were made to look like a carbine and thus worthless.  I decided to settle for a reproduction but have an armisport musket so don't want that brand and thought pedersoli would be better quality. Guess I will keep looking

A converted original gun is not worthless.  It is of less value than unconverted, but I suspect a well done conversion is worth more than a modern era clone

Neither will appreciate as much as an original unaltered gun, but neither will lose value as a result of honest use either.

I always wanted a trapdoor carbine, but never came across a good enough deal on an original.

Finally found a deal on one of the Pedersoli carbines, good quality, shoots great.

New ones are $1500, so $900 is going rate for good used guns.

I didn't enjoy shooting a .45-70 trapdoor carbine.  They kick.  Hard.

Yeeeeeah, they do.  So did my .45-70 copy of an 1869 Sharps carbine converted to cartridge.  Those sawed off big caliber guns aren't fun at my age.

I am going to change my opinion upward.  I was thinking of the H&R reproductions.  The Pedersoli is worth more. But I'd still rather have an original at that price point
