Utah Bob #35998
Never heard of Garryowen being associated with the 1st USVC. I reckon that might start a good bar fight if any 7th troopers were around. As far as saddler stripes, since the Civil War the army had an amazing array of specialist ratings up through WWI. Almost as many as the Navy. They got rid of most of them in the20s. Thank goodness. Noz
We were running a firing exercise at Graf firing range in Southern Germany. The barracks next to us was empty when we went to sleep. During the night am element of the 7th moved in. There is nothing quite like awakening to Garry Owen played on bagpipes.
Pat Riot
Bagpipes. I dislike them greatly. By themselves they sound like someone is stomping on a bag of cats. If there are drums, I will tolerate them. The only time I recall enjoying bagpipes was a St. Patrick’s day I spent in Chicago when I was in the Navy. I was drunk, the girls were pretty and it was a festive mood all around. Tascosa, SASS# 24838
Thanks Subdeacon Joe. Every enjoyable. BUT I watched the documentary on Ben Johnson. Really liked that cause he was one of my fav actors, mainly cause he wasn't playing a part in a western. It was him. Thanks
