Come On Christmas Posted May 17, 2019 Posted May 17, 2019 I’m thinking of taking up 5 stand. Were I to buy a new or used SxS what should I get? I do better with SxS cause I point not aim with one. Single barrel shotguns, not so much. Currently I have a 12 gauge 1903 C Win 97 sawed oft and a Stoeger 12 gauge Coach Gun. Shameless
Come On Christmas Posted May 17, 2019 Author Posted May 17, 2019 You can rent an OU at the range. Will try. I’m a SxS kind of guy.
Hillbilly Drifter Posted May 17, 2019 Posted May 17, 2019 I like my s x s shotguns but for 5 stand you will want an over under

Rattlesnake Slim Posted May 17, 2019 Posted May 17, 2019 You need all the peripheral vision you can get to shoot 5 stand. That big fat sxs barrel in front of your face ain't helping. But we do shoot cowboy skeet and sporting clays, so if that's what makes you happy, just about any single trigger, 28-30 inch barrel gun will do.
Pat Riot Posted May 17, 2019 Posted May 17, 2019 If you bird hunt you should use the shotgun you hunt with. Whatever type it is.
Edward R S Canby, SASS#59971 Posted May 17, 2019 Posted May 17, 2019 I use a Browning SxS with removable ckokes. With it I can shoot 5-stand side matches at CAS matches. That's what I practice for.
