Chili Ron Posted March 16, 2019 Posted March 16, 2019 Howdy, Several tv shows have people finding electronic evesdropping bugs by using a cheap radio, am fm radio. They show the output from the bug caused static on the cheap radio. Any pards know if that really works?? Just wondering. Thanks aheadotime. Best CR
Marshal Mo Hare, SASS #45984 Posted March 16, 2019 Posted March 16, 2019 The bugs must either record everything or broadcast on a frequency. If they use AM/FM bands they will do that. More bands are available though. You can use any band if you don’t mind running afoul of the FCC. )))). I’d stick to bands like those used for WiFi, not AMFM. if you search online you will find many, some advertise that they can be picked up miles away. I think those are fraudulent because that requires more power than you can hide in a little bug.
Pat Riot Posted March 16, 2019 Posted March 16, 2019 It would be hard to know if the static is because it’s a cheap radio or it’s because there is a bug or if it’s just static. Years ago you could buy bugs that operated on FM radio frequencies. They were very weak and they operated at a specific frequency. I bought one and played around with it. We suspected our boss had bugged our office for various reasons. We wanted to see if we could figure out how to detect the bug that I had bought. We did not have success with our experiments but we did have a new guy that had a device that detected AM and FM transmitters. His little box did find a bug that was installed in the overhead ceiling near an opening where a PA speaker wasonce installed. This bug was so blantent and beyond the ability of our idiot manager. It had a power supply that was powered by an outlet mounted in the wall above the drop down ceiling. It operated at 98.6 on the FM dial. Someone took a lot of time to get it researched and set up and however they did it involved others because we were a 7/24 operation. More than one person had to know about the bug. We left it alone and when our manager was in his office we would praise him and talk about all kinds of things that would interest him. We talked of getting him an award. He let it slip that he knew about our efforts to get him an award. That is when we knew for sure he bugged the office. We called the Sheriff’s Dept and reported the bug thinking they would investigate it. They went through the motions but did nothing. All that did was make our boss even sneakier. Oh, to answer your question, no, not really.
Utah Bob #35998 Posted March 16, 2019 Posted March 16, 2019 And the government can’t plant a tiny chip in you that can be tracked by satellite either.
