Rooster Ron Wayne
I found a new in the box Russian 12ga Baikal MP220F Hammered Shotgun for 375.00 ( Not the fake hammered version ) I wanted another good real hammered Shotgun too Shoot with my Henry 1860 And My 1860 Cap Guns . It is a little stiff and will need some smoothing up . And it does have Choke Tubes in it . The length of pull is great up to my shoulder. I was looking at the Cimarron Chinese Copy of the Colt . But I really did not care for the feel of the Cimarron hammered shotgun . And I did not care for the Chinese J2000 hammered Shotgun . I know there is NO more Russian Shotguns coming in right now . Just wondering if anyone have any experience with this Russian Hammered Shotgun ? Seems to be very well built shotgun . All as good or better then both of my Stoeger shotguns Thank you . Colorado Coffinmaker
They are very Tough and Very Reliable and if needed, VERY hard to get parts for.
Noz
Kinda like a Ruger. It's doubtful you'll need parts.
Colorado Coffinmaker
PLUS ONE to Noz. Plus one enough, had I seen the offering ahead of you, you'd never have seen more than a shadow
Garrison Joe, SASS #60708
I have needed firing pins on one Baikal double (not the hammered gun) - was very hard to get those 12 years ago, and would be real hard now. I've seen barrel ribs separate from barrels on two guns. The parts will be very rough and burred on the internals. Other than that, they are ok. About as solid as the Colt 1878 clone is. The Colt 1878/TTN/Cimarron hammered double is still the gold standard for that kind of shotgun, and there's lots of reasons why. The fit on most hammered double shotguns is all about the same - a lot of drop at butt. I'd suggest practice with the TTN, until it does feel comfortable. Or have a new butt stock fitted if there is something unusual with your needs. Good luck, GJ
Nutmeg Ryder, SASS # 74966
I've had a hammered Baikal for 11 years now, it's been shot a lot, never had an issue. Parts for Baikal's have readily available for me for the other two I also have. Even had to buy some for Johnny Meadows so he cold fix what I messed up EAA Corp has had them. In 11 years with 3 baikal's I have had one broken Hammer Spring. Any other issues were my hobby gunsmith attempts at changing springs. I go to a pro now Price is good as well. From the people who has had some thing good to say . Everyone says the same as you built tough and almost never brakes . I have been using a Stoeger for 10 years now . With ZERO Issues . I was told It would never hold up ? Rooster Ron Wayne
Colorado Coffinmaker
Rooster, Trust Me. It won't. At some point in the next 15 or 20 years, something in yer Stoeger is sure to break. If not, just give it a little more time
Crusty
Rooster, i have the Remington 220f made by Bikial. Loved the way it looked and handled. After about 6 shoots the right barrel wouldn’t fire reliably. Took it apart, cleaned up some of the gouge and chisel marks on the inside and it worked fine for awhile. One thing I haven’t been able to do is remove the area of the receiver where the firing pins come through. After removing the two screws that hold it in place it will not budge. I’ve only tried non-destructive measures to get it out. I bought the clone from Taylor’s. It’s heavier but it’s reliable. PS—if anyone knows how to get those darn things out please let me know.
