I sat around here all day, waiting for the orthotics and shoe specialist to come and deliver and final fit my new shoes and insoles. Not only did he not show up, he hasn’t even had the courtesy to call and make some lame excuse for not showing up! The company was supposed to deliver these the first week in July, but didn’t have some information from my doctor. They neither called me nor contacted the doctor, saying that they didn’t have time to follow up on things like that! This may be the most unprofessional bunch of idiots that I have ever encountered! In the morning, I will call them. After that I will call Medicare and my insurance provider and lodge a formal complaint! People should NOT have to put up with this sort of treatment! We were competing at Beech Bend Raceway Park in Bowling Green, Ky during a national event. One of my team partners detonated an engine on the starting line, just after taking the green!! The car stood on its hind legs and shot a section of the crankshaft and two rods about 200 feet down the track. Literally, the front wheels were about six feet off the ground and parts and fluids went EVERYWHERE! The car slammed down and rolled to a stop, about fifty feet from the starting line. We ran out to where what was left had coasted and started pushing the car back and off the track. One of the crew ran down to where the rods landed and, with a shop rag, picked them up and brought them back to the driver as we rolled the car back. It was dead quiet except for a small smattering of applause. The driver looked at the pieces and grinned, then chuckled as he learned into the work. A lady in the front row of the stands shouted, “Look at that crazy fool! He just blew up thousands of dollars worth of motor and there he is laughing!” Ol’ Wayne, the driver, grinned even bigger and hollered back, “Lady! Ya’ might as well laugh! It don’t do a damned bit of good to cry!” He may have gotten the biggest standing ovation of the event!! YEAH! Doctor tells me a two year wait here now. Oh well: Still upright and above ground. The skin Doctors are going to laser zap a couple of spots on my lip this Thursday. Finally some action on that. Don’t know if it’s my personal kind of need for instant gratification or if I just ain’t willing to have that sort of thing put off, but that’s the part of the Canadian medical system that I have a real problem with! There’s a lot of things that I can wait around on, but needed medical attention/procedures it the last thing on that list! Hope they get to ya’ sooner than they say.
