Bad Hand Posted September 21, 2015 Posted September 21, 2015 The merchant can refuse to accept any tender they choose. The bank must accept money (assuming it is US minted) and their own cashiers checks. The P.O. must accept a valid US Postal service Money Order, US Stamps and money. I have had, on occasion, a problem making a purchase with a Two Dollar bill and with Dollar coins. I had another merchant, in California, refuse to accept my gas credit card because it had a Nevada address on it. Go figure. I understand you, I tried to pay for a purchase in WalMart with some $2.00 bills, they called the police and said I was trying to pass counterfeit money.
Chili Ron Posted September 22, 2015 Author Posted September 22, 2015 Howdy, And many folks just LOVE half dollars. Just something about em. Best CR ps- Its my opinion that if they want to put a woman on a bill, they should put out a $500. And the woman should be Liz Taylor....
Col. Nathan C. Riddles, SASS # 7462 Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 Ace, they cannot refuse US currency because it is the "coin of the realm." BM I deposited a USPS MO on the Sat. before labor day. Didn't show up in my bank account until 2 A.M. Wed. morning, the 2nd. I guess some employees interpret the bank rules differently.
Ace_of_Hearts Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 Any private merchant may refuse to accept any type of payment they choose. Many merchants do not accept cash because they do not wish the security risks that cash on hand creates. Don't ask the Government for payment in cash. You will never get your money. Most Government agencies remit in Bank Direct transfer only. In fact many Government agencies dealing with businesses require you to pay them in Bank Transfers only.

If so, I can see where they'd refuse your card or a $2 bill.
Utah Bob #35998 Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 Can't blame the bank. There's fakes Floating around. Sure you can. That's BS. Your personal bank should cash it. If they discover it's bogus they'll just charge you.
Matthew Duncan Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 Howdy, Ive seen fake money on display by police. It really isn't all that good. Most of it is meant to be stuck in the middle of a stack of bills. Any pix of these terriffical fake us postal money orders? Ever seen any? I am very doubtful, willing to learn of course..... Best CR
