irish ike, SASS #43615 Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 Did the grip maker get you documentation that said the grips were made from ivory obtained before XXX date, pre-ban? If not you may find yourself in a world of hurt with the Fed's???????
Fallon, SASS 20190 Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 Irish Ike, I think that Nutmeg Sports makes Ivory Grips for the Colt Factory. If they made the Grips should be no problem. IMHO Fallon P. S. Irish Pat is a good pard too deal with.
Bottom Dealin Mike, SASS #22273 Posted August 5, 2015 Author Posted August 5, 2015 Sale pending. Fallon is correct, Nutmeg Sports does the grips for the Colt Custom Shop. They are one of the top three ivory grip makers in the country and they spend a lot of time looking for pre-ban ivory.
El Hombre Sin Nombre Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 Wow, what a deal. The grips alone are nearly worth the price. I'm going to have to keep my eyes open to see what other treasure mike is selling next.
irish ike, SASS #43615 Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 I'm not questioning their compliance with the pre-ban stuff. Just putting it out there. I'm not sure what agency enforces the laws for ivory but I have heard they have confiscated Ivory when the owner couldn't prove it was pre-ban. And nice guns and grips. Ike
Texican Slim # 87963 Posted August 6, 2015 Posted August 6, 2015 If the sale falls thru, I'll take it, no matter what. texicanslim@hotmail.com
Painted Mohawk SASS 77785 Posted August 6, 2015 Posted August 6, 2015 Wonder if Mike's Smokewagons from Taylors will make an appearance...beautiful !
Bottom Dealin Mike, SASS #22273 Posted August 7, 2015 Author Posted August 7, 2015 Mohawk, No it won't. The Smokewagon and an early E.M.F. Great Western II, also refinished by Doug Turnbull have been my match guns for several years now. They aren't going anywhere.
