Forty Rod SASS 3935
When in danger, when in doubt, Run in circles, scream and shout... Relieve the watch! As told to me by an old Navy hand. Sounds naval.
Trailrider #896
And that means what exactly? NFI! But I've heard it a number of places, where folks tend to get excited when cooler heads prevailing would be preferrable. As I said, it was told to me by a naval officer. Old Scatterbrain
Watch, depending on context, is like sentry or guard duty or CQ duty. Relieving the watch means a new watchstander is taking over and the former one is excused from duty at that point. So in this case, you are saying "let the next guy handle it." Old Scatterbrain
In the Army we just holler for the Sgt of the Guard and let him tell us what to do. In reality there is a chain of command to report any issues to, of course.

Marshal Mo Hare, SASS #45984
Sounds like "change the management" or fire the board and bring in some new guys. OR in the manner of the "great joke" thread. "Prepare three envelopes."
Badger Mountain Charlie SASS #43172
I thought it was a plea to have someone relieve him so he could relieve hisown self.
