Rooster Ron Wayne
I have been using it at our local shoots. There are several other shooters using the same setup.
Marlin Buckhorn,SASS 51727
If you look at Rifle Sights on page 8 of the SASS handbook you will see two reasons the sight on this rifle may not be allowed in SASS side matches. 1. Peep sights must be tang mounted. (This one is barrel mounted.) 2. Barrel and receiver mounted click adjustable sights are not allowed. (This sight appears to be such a sight,) But this sight could be removed and a SASS legal sight installed. The installed sight makes this rifle a fine hunting firearm or target rifle other than for SASS side matches. But, as always, local clubs can make exceptions to SASS rules. However State and above matches would normally follow SASS rules. YMMV Marlin
Marlin Buckhorn,SASS 51727
· Hidden by Allie Mo, SASS No. 25217, October 24, 2013 - argumentative Hidden by Allie Mo, SASS No. 25217, October 24, 2013 - argumentative It would seem someone is upset that I made references to the SASS Shooters Handbook as to the type of sights that are legal on buffalo and long range rifles. Just answered the question Donkey Dude posted on this thread. If this wrinkles somebodies nose, then they could have answered it in a way that would have provided the correct answer to Donkey Dude's question. Again I say, "These are fine rifles, I own 2 myself." Marlin (Who don't like to be threatened.) Buckhorn Link to comment
Rooster Ron Wayne
Like I have said . I have used this rifle this way for several shoots. At more then one local club. There are several shooters who use the same setup. This is a good starter rifle and at a good price. If the rear sight is not allowed where you shoot at replace the sight. SINGLE ACTION SHOOTING SOCIETY Shooters Handbook ~ 17 ~ Copyright © Single Action Shooting Society, Inc 2012 Version 18.1 BASIC RULES FOR THE LONG RANGE COMPETITIONS Front barrel sights may vary from simple blades to period hooded wind gauge designs using. interchangeable sight inserts and having a spirit level mounted integral with the sight or sight base. Rear sights must either be open iron sights mounted on the barrel or original style tang or stock wrist mounted peep sights. Long range rear barrel mounted sights of the flip up ladder type may use a peephole drilled through the sliding sight leaf. An example of this is the various ladder type sights used on the Springfield trapdoors. Bolt or receiver mounted sights are not allowed
