Allie Mo, SASS No. 25217
That's a very valid point Marshal Phil. Lucky and I are working our tails off trying to save up enough to retire (and stay employed for the time being!). Between SASS shoots and out of state visits to family, our vacation days are quite precious. But - I truly believe that one BIG show of gun owners on the Capital steps would be such an out of the ordinary and eye-opening event......I'd give up some vacation time (even time without pay!) to participate. Hey! If there is an event at the Capitol, I can probably make it too. It's a little over an hour from me.
Gunner Gatlin, SASS 10274L
Hi Pards,I was just on a cast bullet vendors web page and they are no longer going to ship to CA. It was my understanding that this new law only applied to ammunition. When I called, the vendor referred me to a section that included bullets. cut and pasted from ab962.org SEC. 5. Section 12316 of the Penal Code is amended to read b. (2) For purposes of this subdivision, "ammunition" shall include, but not be limited to, any bullet, cartridge, magazine, clip, speed loader, autoloader, or projectile capable of being fired from a firearm with a deadly consequence. "Ammunition" does not include blanks. Can any SASS shooters in the CA legal system verify this? Thanks, JB Prayers for my fellow Cali pards... Black Harris #154
Somehow, a couple of posts were deleted in this thread. Anyhoo, since one of 'em was a follow-up post, I guess I need to repost it since I think it shed valid light on the statute. No posts have been deleted. There are two threads, identical. Marshal Phil DeGrave SASS #55202
AND ANOTHER THING THAT BUGS ME, Some Dumbass Rep from another District can write/propose a law that will efeect the ENTIRE STATE, and when you try to email that DA, you can't because he won't allow emails fromn some one NOT IN HIS DISTRICT. XXX? So how are we supposed to complain about the crap they do when they can cut us off so easily?

Buckhorn Woodie
Now, while I back what my Pard IROT says and don't like those who bash California........let me give you folks some of my personal observations: - I agree with Buckhorn Woodie that CA is "ruled" by L.A. and the Bay Area. As a CA resident, I see SO many protests for illegal immigrants rights, gay rights, muslim rights, gangbangers rights. I've seen teacher strikes, hotel worker strikes, garbage strikes. Save the beach, save the whales.....you name it. - How many normal, law abiding gun owners do we have in this state? The last time Lucky and I were at the Costa Mesa Gun Show the line to get in was through the parking lot. When we went to Rauhaugee's Shooting Sports Fair last year the line of cars was almost back to the dairy farm. My point is: Where in the he!! is the outrage by CA gun owners / shooting sports people at what's been allowed to go on here in CA!?! Why aren't WE marching on Sacramento!?! When's the last time WE demonstrated en masse. The NRA, CA Rifle and Pistol Assoc. etc. are fine.........but it's time to stop depending on someone else to do everything for us. So........AB962 doesn't apply to "components". BUT - if you agree that perception is sometimes reality, I can see (don't agree, but "see") why some out of state dealers are wary of shipping components to CA. Law abiding gun owners have allowed this to happen here in CA. What will be taken away from us next? What's OUR next step? Lucky and I have travelled to Utah and Colorado recently. We stopped in some of the local "toy stores" along the way and being the friendly folks that we are, had a conversation or two about guns, reloading components, etc. In two places, we were asked where we were from. When we said "California", the reply was basically the same - "Gee, I didn't know any normal folks came from out there". While I'm not sure we can ever totally change left leaning CA........I sure think we have enough gun owners here to voice our opinion and push back some of this horse crap that's been tossed on us. Question is, will we do it - or will the majority of us just sit back and continue to just complain? Think about it - what little gun related right or "thing" will be taken away from us next? What will you do? My .02 cents / my opinion. +
Buckhorn Woodie
Thanks pard. It's seems like if you state the obvious here you get beat up for bashing CA (that happens to me a lot). I am concerned and inquire because CA and the NE seem to be a proving ground for the rest of the US when it comes to stealing our freedom one small step at a time. If the majority of the people don't like the rules that get past that affects all of us and we need to address that and educate folks rather than rolling over for the minority. Thanks Ca is bad but there are at least 5 or 6 states with worst gun laws... in most county's one can still get a CCW.. ..hell in my county it is darn near a requirement to be a gun owner regardless of race, cred, color or sexual orientation
Rye Miles #13621
Thanks for keeping the usual incorrect statements about California under control. My wife and I plan to retire out there in about 4 years and I am glad to see there are people trying their best to change the laws there. I am hopeful that by the time I get there, things will have relaxed some. Hey Deadeye, I'm planning on retiring or semi-retiring out west also. My choices are Henderson,NV and Southern Cal. My son is living in Burbank,CA and doing very well in the music business. He wants me to move there. My other son who lives here also wants to go to So.Cal. to work with his brother. If I have a chance to live out my golden years with my two sons it would be great. I'd be looking for somewhere outside LA County so I can get a CCL. Maybe things will turn around but with Gov. Moonbeam newly elected we'll have to see. Maybe Henderson,NV is where I'll end up and be about 3 hours from my sons.

They still have horse propertys there. Henderson is 4 1/2 hours from there. Don't let all the nay sayers convince you against it. Things here aint near as bad as LOTSA parts in the Country. Allie Mo, SASS No. 25217
Hey Rye, If you lived a few hours from your sons, you could shoot at your home clubs then visit them and shoot with a different set of clubs. For example, Chorro Valley, between Morro Bay and San Luis Obispo is about 3 1/2 hours from Burbank. Bakersfield is less than two hours from Burbank and it's got 5 Dogs. They are both excellent clubs with great folks. Regards, Allie Mo
Bull Creek Cole
I have read a lot about the CA ammo laws that will soon come into effect. It seems that the anti-gun lawmakers have purposefully made this set of laws so difficult to understand that most out of state ammo and component vendors simply choose not to do business in CA instead of risking non-compliance with with laws they don't fully understand. Even if the vendors tried to understand and comply with the laws, some goofy CA judge could make an activist interpretation of the law and still find the vendor non-compliant. I can't blame any of the vendor's for not wanting to take the chance to get caught up in CA's crazy mess. Hopefully, the current lawsuits against the ammo law legislation will prevail. Just jealous of our weather I guess hud I think ya nailed it hud, that's exactly why. Why would someone put up with strict gun laws AND BAD weather??? New York and New Jersey have far more stricter gun laws than Cal. Illinois and Wisconsin don't have any CCW and their weather is a bad as Ohio (where I'm at fer now) There are guns that can't be shipped to Maryland because of their laws. I've been reading alot on the CalGun website. California ain't so bad after all. Rye

RICO, SASS #9760LIFE
Here's my Two Cents worth................ I've become a "one issue voter" (for all the good it has done) however.............. If every gun owner in Ca. voted "ONLY" based on gun rights we might be able to control some of the insanity. The real problem (IMHO) as stated earlier is that a large percentage (probably greater than 50%) of the voters in CA. are on some type of Govt. Dole..........they vote for whoever promises to give them more. That's their "one issue". Also probably why we have the current President of the U.S., but that's another topic. We need to "VOTE", that is the only weapon we the people have. Letters/e-mails/phone calls/whatever............I don't believe politicians listen to any form of communication "EXCEPT VOTES". As for you guys that want to retire out here in a few years, Let me know when your coming as I'll have property for sale in So. Cal. House/barn on a little over an acre (horse property) and additional acre plus next door (also horse property). I'll be wanting to sell in about 2-3 years as I have already aquired property in AZ. and I'm only waiting for the wife to retire........ Thanks for listening to the rant..........
