  1. This is my method for removing stuck nipples. I use the set-up that Warden referred to, only in a drill press vice. Then I chuck the nipple wrench in the drill, and lower it down until it is on the nipple. The drill press keeps the nipple wrench from slipping off. Then I turn the drill by hand. It has never failed to remove any stuck nipples, and does not destroy the nipple in the process. --Dawg
  2. SOLD -- THANKS I have for sale two pairs of Ajax #31 Stag grip panels for a Ruger XR3-RED gripframe. In very nice condition -- no chips, cracks, or other flaws that I can see. Paypal Friends & Family or USPS Money Order please From the <Texasgrips.com> Website: XR3 Red. Ruger introduced the XR3 Red (Redesigned) grip frame in 1962 to replace the original XR3 frame. 6. Dilli: Here's a couple of articles that Larsen E. Pettifogger wrote on tuning Pietta Open Top cap guns. These were in the Cowboy Chronicle some time ago. --Dawg Tuning_the_Pietta_Part_One copy.pdf Tuning the Pietta Cap & Ball for Competition part 2 copy.pdf
  7. Factory Nipples suck. Spend the $35 and buy a set of Treso or Slix nipples. --Dawg
  8. Hi: Looking for one Either a whole gun, or just a barrel Thanks --Dawg
  9. Yep, Elder Statesman for a year now! I want to thank everyone for the kind thoughts and Birthday greetings. I really appreciate it! --Dawg
  10. I'm sure many of you have this, but, for those who don't here it is. These dimensions were measured by Mako in 2011 & published in his excellent article. "Percussion Caps and Nipples" Every serious cap gunner should have this article saved in his files for future reference, --Dawg Percussion Caps and Nipples.pdf

  12. Hey Frio: I'll take all the new starline brass. A USPS Flat Rate box should work well and be affordable Thanks --Dawg
  13. I have two sets of Ajax #31 grips -- those are listed. I may have another set that came on a Ruger Old Army that I purchased from a friend. I don't know who the maker is, and I cannot verify where they came from, but they feel like genuine stag. --Dawg
  14. Good Morning: I'll take both of these. Thanks --Dawg
  15. Yes, I use GB. Wider range of buyers, many of whom are not adverse to spending $$. Depends alot on the gun. Pure cowboy (like Vaqueros, Uberti cattleman, etc) guns do well here, but guns that have a non-cowboy appeal (like Blackhawks) do well on GB. They charge 6%, so there's that. And the buyer pays sales tax, shipping, and a 1% fee. But it is an auction, not fixed price, so you may get more. --Dawg
  16. Thanks Everyone -- It means a lot to me! --Dawg
  17. Hi Folks: An old CAS pard is getting up there & retiring from shooting. He lives in Pittsburg He asked me about where/how to go about selling some of his stuff. Most of the stuff I know about. But he has a 16 gauge Spolar shotshell press -- I had never heard that name until yesterday. Anyway, if anyone can suggest a good place to list it, or anything that helps me figure out how to sell it, please PM me. I appreciate it. --Dawg
  18. If Springfield Slim is still doing leather, he makes them. --Dawg
  19. Sold--THANKS Good Afternoon Folks: End of an era here. I've been shooting cap guns for over 40 years now. But, the arthritis in my hands has gotten so bad, that I've moved to shooting 38s. While I'm still shooting duelist and black powder, my fingers don't work well enough to shoot cap guns any more. So…………. I have for sale another pair of Ruger Old Army Revolvers -- These are 3-1/2 inch Snubbies Description & pictures: (more pictures available on request -- Please send me your e-mail address) --Two Blued "Antiqued" 3-1/2-inch Ruger Old Army revolvers. I have owned and used these for several years, and they have always been very good for me. These were purchased from the widow of a shooter from Florida. They started life as 5-1/2 inch ROAs. He "antiqued" them to make them look like old & well-used guns. I had some 5-1/2 inchers, but I love "snubbies", so I sent them to Johnny Meadows, & he cut the barrels to 3-1/2 inches, crowned them, and installed new front sights. The bores and cylinder charge holes are in good condition The original Ruger nipples have been replaced by Treso nipples (Slix/Rugers are good, but Tresos are better IMHO) The cylinder pins are from Belt Mountain--standard BM pins captured by a screw on the frame. The grip frames are Ruger aluminum alloy (I think they are old Blackhawk frames). One is a shiny plated gripframe, and the other is the Ruger Blue/Black. These were done for lightness of the gun. Between cutting the barrel, replacing the cylinder pin with a BM pin, and replacing the heavy steel gripframe, the overall weight of the gun was reduced significantly. These are pleasant to shoot. The grips are Eagle #31 Imitation Ivory grips. $1000 each for the guns I can mail to you where legal for $30 Shipping will be USPS Priority Mail, fully insured. Be sure you know your state's gun laws Certified Bank Check for $2030 please PM with questions, & send email address if you want more pictures (& what you want to see better) Thanks for looking --Dawg
