watab kid Posted May 4, 2024 Posted May 4, 2024 i dont see a downside to this so far , one well known brand joining forces with another , just hope it results in more availability for the relaoading folks they mention that they cater to ,
Scarlett Posted May 4, 2024 Posted May 4, 2024 At least Hodgdon bought RCBS. VISTA Outdoors is taking in the money - raising their prices of their vast market share of the reloading/ammunition business while trying to sell that same portion of their company to a group in the Czech Republic for $1.9 Billion. The contract is being reviewed by the Federal Government - Homeland Security or something I’m not sure. I hope that it is denied. It’s bad enough that VISTA Outdoors has a virtual monopoly on components but to sell to a foreign entity - now our ally - but for how long? Then we’d really be in a mess. There is an American group trying to buy ALL of VISTA Outdoors - Camelbak, REI etc for around $3 Billion, which was initially dismissed by VISTA. We had better pay attention. Hugs! Scarlett
Cholla Posted May 4, 2024 Posted May 4, 2024 I listened to a podcast with an interview of one of the top members of Hodgdon. Most of the gun powder is made outside the US and imported. That’s concerning.
Edward R S Canby, SASS#59971 Posted May 4, 2024 Posted May 4, 2024 The evaluation is being done by the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) (see https://home.treasury.gov/policy-issues/international/the-committee-on-foreign-investment-in-the-united-states-cfius/cfius-overview).

The relationship between Lovex/Explosia and Shooters World, a South Carolina company, is outstanding! They are each working as hard as possible to keep us in powders. FWIW, American Pioneer Powder is PROUDLY made in the USA (Colorado). It’s LOADS of fun to shoot! Sends projectiles (or shot) down barrels - certainly capable of stopping a threat! Big hugs! Scarlett
