SOLD New in Box Cimarron/Uberti Pocket Navy Conversion in. 380

Recommended Posts

Sold. This is a dandy little revolver that I just learned about.  Made for Cimarron Arms by Uberti,  it is a Colt Pocket Navy Conversion in .380. They opted for this round, as it is commercially available.  Small, light and absolutely new in box with all paperwork.  Cimarron lists it for around $650 + tax. $500 + Shipping to your FFL from my FFL.

I've had one in the hand and liked it, although I've never shot one.  According to those who know more than me, it's essentially a replica of the Colt Type 5 pocket "conversion" (although it left the factory as a cartridge gun) popular in the 1870s.  I've read of somebody even making cartridges for this replica from .38 Short Colt brass.  I think he turned down the rims a bit and probably shortened the case.  But then he had it in an "authentic" caliber!  (Originals were in .38 rimfire and .38 centerfire.)

Very cool, Dusty!

These don't have an ejector rod?

Correct.  In the videos I've seen, people don't seem to have a lot of trouble getting the empties out.

The lack of a loading gate (just a channel in the frame for loading) actually seems more likely to be an issue.

I'll bet one of these with a loading gate and a 3.5-4" barrel would be sweet.

Load pointing down. When cylinder clicks into place frame overlaps cartridge head.

Unless it's changed, about 4 1/2 years back, these were ruled ineligible for either a main match revolver or a side match revolver, even with the 3 1/2" barrel.
