WTB 45-60 Winchester Brass

Recommended Posts

Texas Red sold me some brass, dies and donated some lead bullets! Thanks Texas Red!!

I'm still looking for some more 45-60 Winchester brass. There were a couple of different outfits that made this, but like a lot of things these days it appears to be out of stock. I also need reloading dies and thought I would check here to see if someone has a used set they want to sell.

It's for a friend's original 1876 Winchester and they head thickness on 45-60 brass is thinner than 45-70 brass so trimming down 45-70 and then trying to thin out the case head is not my first choice.

Thanks!

Texas Red is a good guy to do Business with.

I also have original WINCHESTER IN 45-60. Cut down 45-70 cases work fine in mine.

You can use 45-70 reloading dies. If you can't find 45-70's.

A lot of people use 400 grain bullets in a 45-60. They seem to work for them.

The correct bullet is 300 grain. The 45-60 is considered to be a express round.

You will enjoy shooting it.

That is good to know I am loading these for a friend.

Here's another for cut down 45-70 and 45-70 dies for an original 76' in 45-60. Lee case trimmer with the

corrected length for 45-60 makes quick work of it.

Harbor freight sells a mini chop saw that works well to cut down 45-70 brass. A guy 3D printed a jig for me to use. Cut them down, use a deburring tool and good to go.

I got one of those chop saw's and the jig too, they work great! I use Starline 45/70 to cut down and they work perfectly in my Uberti 76. This is the 1st time I've heard of the 45/60 being called an express round. 50/95, yes, but not the 45/60.

Just saying what I read.

Have been shooting my Original and Uberti for 23 years.

Good cartridge. Have shot mine out to 300 yards.

The hammer spring busted. On my original. Dixie Gun Works have them. If you ever need one.

Mite be a good idea to order one. Mine busted at a 200 yard shoot.
