"So long saddle pal.

Parting's such sweet sorrow.

But on down the trail,

There'll be a bright tomorrow.

So, keep those faces smiling,

Around the old corral.

So, until we meet again.

Goodbye saddle pal."

Hope to see you, someday, in that cowboy camp meetin' in the sky.

Just saw this sad news a bit earlier today.

I was fortunate enough to have a nice conversation with Don at the first event that was held at Founder's Ranch , "Smoke In The Valley" in 2004.

He and Waddie Mitchell were there. I had also met Don some years earlier at the White Elephant Saloon in Ft. Worth.

Hell of a nice guy , and an encyclopedia of cowboy music.

I will miss him.

 Sadly , Rex

One of the great ones, he came to Prescott for the Arizona Cowboy Poets Gathering a number of times, I always made it a point to attend his performance. The last time was 3-4 years ago and I got to meet him at our opening reception. A true gentleman and a great singer.
