Trigger Mike
I rented a small house on the marsh side of tybee island so my sons and I could fish off the private dock it came with. Having left the fishing knife at the rental my son asked me for my Benchmade I always carry. He used it to cut bait. As we left around 1am I grabbed for it and it fell between the boards into the water below. The next morning at low tide, since my son is lighter than I am he went down and got it as it sat exposed where water had been. I opened and closed it a few times and all seemed well. I took it to the rental and washed it off in hot water. That was Thursday. We got home tonight so I put it one of my wife's narrow coffee cups and sprayed WD 40 all over it and inside it and left the hinge portion soaking in WD 40. It works but as time goes by is getting sluggish with the automatic opening. It's real dull now as well, which is expected. I figure to soak it until tomorrow afternoon and wipe it down. I'm debating taking it apart.
The Original Lumpy Gritz
Flush it with brake cleaner and b low it out. Spray with lock lubricant and blow it out. Sharpen it and enjoy. BTW, might want to put a lanyard on it.

Texas Joker
I would assume Bencmade is using some form of stainless steel and the only thing you may need to worry about is fasteners
