X Mark Posted January 31, 2021 Posted January 31, 2021 I am looking for a Merwin Hulbert gunsmith for a friend of mine that owns the gun. Any help along these lines would be appreciated. The gun appeared to cycle correctly but it has a replacement part that was made as a "cylinder guard" for the right side of the gun. He would like to have this gun restored since it's a family heirloom. Thank you in advance for helpful hints and assistance. Colorado Coffinmaker Posted January 31, 2021 Posted January 31, 2021 Replacement parts for Merwins are only found on guns someone else already owns.
Springfield Slim SASS #24733 Posted January 31, 2021 Posted January 31, 2021 Sounds like he wants the cylinder guard removed and then the gun restored.
Injun Ryder, SASS #36201L Posted January 31, 2021 Posted January 31, 2021 Many years ago, I contacted "Ron's Gun Shop" in Germantown WI about restoration on a M-W. They could do what I wanted but it was a little more than I could handle at that time. https://www.ronsgunshop.com/
Garrison Joe, SASS #60708 Posted January 31, 2021 Posted January 31, 2021 Another great shop to do this - - Run-n-Iron firearms restoration service in Nebraska. http://www.runniron.com/index_cowboy.html
