May you have the FFL install a pistol buffer tube before you take possession or are AR pistols all illegal in CA?

How can you build or possess an AR pistol in CA unless you don't install a forearm; since, the forearm is a barrel shroud?  A pistol with a barrel shroud has been an assault weapon in CA since the 101 CA St. incident.

While they are cool and fun to play with, I find them totally worthless for any practical purposes.  No Mall Ninja outfit is complete without one.

Just remember in a self defense situation, there is always the crane technique. Mr Myagi say “If do right no can defense.”(Except in Okinawa- Karate Kid II)

Single-shot break top AR pistols manufactured by an FFL with the correct manufacturing license are (I think still) legal in California.

A face-to-face transfer with 4473 at an FFL of an existing AR pistol is (I think still) legal in California. Also think these pistols must have a fixed magazine with maximum 10-round capacity.

All stripped lowers in California are transferred as rifles. You can not build your own AR pistol from a stripped lower legally in California (on this, I am sure.)

The net (web) of laws in California make it difficult for me to be sure of anything there, particularly since there are both state and local restrictions, some of which conflict.
