Dantankerous
I have a 1917 but you cannot have the grips from mine. A fantastic revolver! I agree, check eBay. Amazing what you can find on that site.
Hilo Willy
Good news I have an original pair in excellent condition—bad news they are in Philly and I’m in Phoenix until mid-May. Keep me in mind if nothing pops up for you.
Earl Brasse, SASS #3562
I got a set of these on E-bay, great fit. reasonable price. Mine wasn't a military, so the checkering sounded good. Edited, My opps, I had Colt on the brain, got these for my 1917 Colt. Interestingly enough, mine is in 45 Colt. As far as I know the 1917 was made for 45 ACP using half moon clips but at some point in its life it must have gone back to the factory and was altered to accept the 45 Colt. Muley Gil SASS # 57795
Dan, you might want to join the Smith & Wesson forum and inquire about your 1917 there. Very few 1917s in .45 Colt were built at the factory. http://smith-wessonforum.com/forum.php

I checked his other listings and there was nothing for an N frame S&W.

Checkered 1917 grips are only correct for commercial 1917s and for the Brazilian 1917s that shipped in the 1930s.
