Some of the bracket racers I’ve known could consistently hit .0s in a car they were familiar with. .10s were commonplace and they rarely got up into the .20s! Quote

Blackwater 53393 Posted August 5, 2024 Author Posted August 5, 2024 PRACTICE!! These guys have practice trees in their trailers and in their garages! Not only that, they have a bunch of electronics in the car to adjust the CAR’S reaction time to the release of the trans-brake button! Quote
Chickasaw Bill SASS #70001 Posted August 5, 2024 Posted August 5, 2024 street , did not use a trans brake , it was in the 80s , before NOS became common we would go to MO KAN once in a while , to see where we stood with the BIG guys a lot of folks would get me on the start , BUT , I had a pretty good mill under her CB Quote
Blackwater 53393 Posted August 5, 2024 Author Posted August 5, 2024 Wasn’t unusual to pull one of the bracket cars out on the street now and then. My first experience with the trans-brake was in 1981. VIOLENT!! Quote
Blackwater 53393 Posted August 6, 2024 Author Posted August 6, 2024 Second hand pieces!! I have a friend who has been racing for over sixty years, (he’s 81 this year) who has picked up other racer’s junk and repaired it, again and again, and then taken it back to the track and beat the original owners with their throwaways! He’s set several national records over the years and done more with less than anyone I’ve ever seen!! Quote
