Some of the bracket racers I’ve known could consistently hit .0s in a car they were familiar with.  .10s were commonplace and they rarely got up into the .20s!

PRACTICE!!  

 

These guys have practice trees in their trailers and in their garages!

 

Not only that, they have a bunch of electronics in the car to adjust the CAR’S reaction time to the release of the trans-brake button!

Wasn’t unusual to pull one of the bracket cars out on the street now and then.

 

My first experience with the trans-brake was in 1981.

Second hand pieces!!

 

 

 

I have a friend who has been racing for over sixty years, (he’s 81 this year) who has picked up other racer’s junk and repaired it, again and again, and then taken it back to the track and beat the original owners with their throwaways!  He’s set several national records over the years and done more with less than anyone I’ve ever seen!!
